Fresh from being done and hasnt cured yet, so its a little shiny still. I'll take a few more once its completely done.

John,
I think you need to see someone about this little paint addiction you have....:D
If they would hurry up and get the darn things out with the FDE frames already, then I wouldnt have to.
Great job, looks very nice!

Understood...that's why I ordered my G19 in OD....
I love ALumahydeII
As the bozo who once got to the range with his .45 Trojan and his 9mm mags
I painted my grip inserts on my M&P's
and my mag bases are painted to match
OD for 9mm and Coyote for .45
I need all the help I can get
That's what you get for leaving any of your pretty guns behind while you go to the range! KARMA!
Or is it plain old irony?
:p
Looks very well done Hawkeye!
Let us know how it holds up after some time in a holster. If it will hold up to some holster time I may end up spraying a pistol of mine.
Please keep us updated.
Did a short handgun class today. Apparently I didnt let it dry quite long enough. I am used to the 15 minute dry time of Krylon. In short order I had a bit of a sticky brown palm. Looks like the frame itself dried, but the changeable grip piece didnt and thats where it was coming off from. I read the can again and it says before applying anymore to let the first coat fully cure, so I am going to give it a few more days and when its completely done, redo it in the area it came off. Will then let it sit for a longer time before use.
Got a second coat on. Let it cure better this time. It matches the FDE color of a Safariland 6004 quite well. Little shiny in the one pic in a couple of spots, but thats more flash than anything. It actually turned out to have a nice flat finish. Just have to see how long it holds up now. I'm not worried about it scratching, as thats going to happen regardless. I am interested to see though, if after it does start to get scratched up, if it begins to come off around the scratched areas or not.

Looks cool! I don't know why, but I've found that Aluma-Hyde II takes longer to dry/cure on certain rubbers and plastics. Stuff like power rings on scopes. I guess it's the composition of them?
Could be. It dried MUCH faster on the frame itself, than it did on the removeable grip piece.
Hawkeye,
I was over at Bob's Gun Shop @ lunch fondling the new coyote brown M&P45! Man that thing is sweet! This one had the manual safety and a lanyard built into the takedown tool.
I think you need one :D
Its on my list.... but only once I am sure that the thumb safety can be removed, or they are available without it.

I kinda liked the thumb safety. It wasn't mushy like I read it was and it kind of reminded me of a 1911. I don't know if I'd get one with a thumb safety because my M&P9 doesn't have so maybe I'll have to get one of each ;)
Get the one w/o the manual safety. No sense in complicating things.
Hawkeye--I sent off for the M&P 9 today! Hell isn't frozen over yet though, just a mini ice age:eek:
Ditto the safety...
And you sent off for one.... be still my heart! :D

Who are you and what have you done with mark5pt56???
So far, I prefer the M&P's with the ambi safety.
For me, If I were still running 1911's in addition to my M&P's, I'd definitely get my M&P's with the thumb safety. For someone who has/is shooting primarily Glocks, I think its probably better to go sans the safety. Just to keep things on the same manual of operation as much as possible.

Personally, I blame you for the conversions. Good upstanding Glock owners whose minds were poisoned by your constant suggestions. I admire mark5pt56 as his mind was strong enough to resist your Jedi mind trick for this long. The sustained assault, however, will wear away a tough mind just as running water will wear away rock.
Dport is correct.
722 posts, I was bound to get a hit eventually.
Didnt say it was your first.... ;)

I plead guilty (and proud of it) to the charges your honor :D

I shot a friends M&P 9 today. Not bad shooting, Hit a little higher than my Glock, that's a slight difference in the sight picture. I have to admit, it does fit the hand better. Felt recoil feels the same to me. I didn't have any issues with the reset.
M4arc is a bad, bad man.

You didn't have to. I know how dismal my success rate is.;)

Oh I know because he ordered on yesterday :D
If we can get mark5pt56 to fall we've really accomplished something. ;)

So how does the finish look after 3 months of use?
BTW, that;s the Coyote color? Looks more like the desert tan color judging by the Brownell's ad.
Yes, thats the Coyote color. Flash makes it a little brighter than it really is. I need to take some updated pics. Its holding up better than I had expected.
