As stated i had a DD Lite Rail installed with a yankee hill gas block.... After each manual rack and release there is a High pitched metallic Ping from the barrel side near the gas block... Normal?

Can you get it to happen by slapping the rail? And watching what's going on...

You can grab the flash hider and bend the barrel up/down and back/forth to see if it's hitting the gas block.

You don't happen to have a vortex or blackout flash hider do you??

The gas tube is not contacting the weld spring, so now you are hearing the gas tube ring.

As stated above, what flash hider are you running?

Normal. It's a harmonic generated in the rail when the bolt slams home. You can confirm by grabbing the end if the rail and racking the bolt. Your hand will smother the harmonic and no ping will be audible.

No, the weld spring is part of the barrel nut used with standard plastic handguards. People who have not run free float rails often comment about the noise.

I haven't noticed any noise with a DD Lite 12.0, DD RIS-II, TRX MRF or TRX Extreme. All were, or are being used, with low profile gas blocks.

I could be tone deaf though...

Ok did some testing... With absolutly nothing attached or touching the rail the Ping was Audible but when i added my DD Vert Grip It was Gone.. Didnt think about Harmonics

Todd when i purchased this rifle it had already had a YHM Rail no delta ring.

Intresting.

While I never noticed a ring, I've also never shot my rail naked.

Just feels dirty.

Did you check to make sure the six bolts are are torqued down tight?
