Hey guys, I finally got accepted to the forum. I have an idea of what I want to build, but I want people to critique. I just plan on maybe 300 rds per year, and no more than 250 yds. I plan on shooting random things I find and maybe some small game. Here is my plan:

Aero Precision Lower (complete)-180$
DPMS 16" BBL upper-400$ (I think it is 1:9)
Cheap .223 scope that has windage and drop already claculated for 55 grain bullets

Any suggestions? I am in highschool without a job so I want it to be as cheap as possible and still shoot accurately. If I hunt or anything I wont be carrying it so weight doesn't bother me.

"Cheap" and "DPMS". Not off to a very good start. Since youre shooting that amount of ammo in a year...
Does it have to be an AR platform? Im just wondering cause you can pick up a nice Savage or used Rem. 700 .223 for around $4 if you look. Sometimes they come with optics. I seen a Rem. 700 BDL .223 for $500

Yeah I would really like to stick with AR's. I like the customizability and it being semi auto. I'm basically going to make my 10/22 in AR-15.

Have you thought about maybe a better quality upper? Maybe BCM? I picked my 16" up for around $399. If youre lookin for cheap optics I would be careful. Glass is NOT something I prefer to save money on, Ive seen alot of friends buy junk glass that wouldnt hold zero or it would break right away.

I agree with BCMjunkie. Get a better quality upper. Check out DD or BCM. DPMS isnt worth $400.
Also, run irons rather than getting a cheap optic. Spend the money on ammo instead.

This is silly and I am in a bad mood. Good night.
