A few weekends ago, I found out through a friend that the gun show was in town once again. I've been hunting for a bargain on a P30 and was hoping that I might be able to find one at the show. I missed the first two days of the weekend but finally made it in Sunday morning. Of course, and with no surprise at all, there were no deals on any P30's but I did come across a P2000. Since I've been looking for a carry weapon in 9mm, this particular P2000 fit my hand like a glove and was the perfect size for carrying. I really like how the rough texture is only on the front and back straps while the sides are smooth. I read a lot of people saying that the grip on the P30 is pretty rough against the skin so I definitely took that into account.

When I saw the price tag of $599 I asked what was wrong with the gun. The dealer said that it was a duty pistol that had been sent back to H&K to be refurbished and then sold at a cheaper price. With that being said, there wasn't a scratch or mark on it anywhere and it was in immaculate condition. After careful inspection, I decided to purchase it.

I got to put about 150 rounds through it a few days later and it ran like a top! It's equipped with a V3 trigger however what I was shopping for in a P30 was the LEM. After a few magazines I decided that the V3 is great for my needs and am very pleased with my decision.

Here's some pictures I took of it:

Made a Kydex holster for it:

Now I know this question has probably been beaten to death, but is the magazine release from the H&K 45C compatible with the P2000? It looks slightly larger than the P2000 and that it might fit. Or if there's any other mag release that'll work that's larger I'd be all about it. Thanks!

Congrats and enjoy your P2000. I have a few of them myself and find them to be excellent guns. My 9mm V3 has 13,750 rounds through it and not a single problem.

Yes, the HK45c mag release will fit the P2k. There have been a few people who have done it and posted pictures of them on HKpro.com.

Awesome! Are there any other H&K parts dealers online other than hkparts.net? They're out of stock at the moment.

Congrats on your new P2000. I have a P2000SK that I used to use as my EDC and it is a fantastic weapon. Then I got a P30 and the ergonomics are great. However, the grips will cheese-grater your skin if carried next to the body with no tee shirt underneath. I bought the HK45CT for EDC now as I like the .45ACP round. However, the HK45C has the P2000 grip on it so it is much nicer to carry concealed than the HK45, which has a P30 style grip. Good luck with your new P2000. You got a good one!!

try calling HK directly. HK USA's customer service is bizarrely good as of late.. guess they finally got sick of their "you suck and we hate you" CS reputation :D

sweet gun, at near-glock prices i'd say you got an awesome deal. last gun show iwas at had a couple USP45's for 600 bucks that looked like they'd just come back from iraq.

Clue in, nerds!

To the OP,
Definitely sign up for the HKparts email alert for when they have the HK45C mag release back in stock, because they make a world of difference.

I will be sure to do that! Funny you mention Glock prices because I actually sold my G19 and the P2000 was its replacement and I barely had to pay much of a difference.

I didn't realize the difference was that significant but now that I see it in your pictures it really looks like it'll solve my problem. The only issue that I found I had with my P2000 was the size of the mag release, but now that I know there's a solution I feel like I found the perfect weapon for my needs.

The solution that I have been using for about 5 years now on my EDC P2000 for the "cheese grater" effect is black stick-on felt paper. I cut out a rectangle that covers the side next to my body. It works great. It improves my grip and last about 2 years before I have to replace it.

Give it a try. If you don't like it, just peel it back off.

I am not an HK guy (not saying I don’t like them, saying I know little about them) so correct if I’m wrong, but I thought the V3 had a decocker??

Sweet piece and even sweeter price, I am thinking of P2000 for my next purchase.

i sometimes fantasize about trading my g19 in for a p2000. i played with one of the LEM trigger 2000's at a shop.. interesting... i love being able to buy mags for 25 bucks and detail strip my gun with a finishing nail though...
my P7 takes care of my HK lust for now :D

It does, the decocker is located right next to the hammer. It's not like the other versions where it's integrated into the thumb safety.

I never thought I'd get rid of my 19 but had to for personal reasons. However after getting the P2000, I don't know if I could buy another Glock again. Don't get me wrong, I will always have a special appreciation for Glocks, but the trigger in the HK (IMO) makes it all worth it.

Congrats on your pistol and great pics!!!

I have a USP45F, but, sad to say, am pretty P2000 illiterate. I've read countless accounts of people going from a G19 to a P2000. Right now, my G19's are my SHTF pistols, but for the right price, I could easily be swayed to go w/ HK. Some questions if you don't mind.

What does a typical mag cost for the P2000?
Are mags compatable between the regular P2000 and the P2000SK?
I kind of doubt it, but are the mags for the P2000 and P30 interchangeable?
Is the rail on the P2000 a universal rail vs. the proprietary USP rail?
Are there LEM options on the P2000 that bring it down to the 4.5-5lb trigger pull weight?

Thanks, and again, congrats!!!

I've found them for as low as $32 a piece.

Are mags compatable between the regular P2000 and the P2000SK?

No, because the P2000SK has a shorter grip length.

I kind of doubt it, but are the mags for the P2000 and P30 interchangeable?

No, however the 9mm P2000 mags are the same as USP Compact 9mm mags.

Is the rail on the P2000 a universal rail vs. the proprietary USP rail?

Unfortunately I don't have an answer to that. One of the other guys will have to chime in with an answer.

Are there LEM options on the P2000 that bring it down to the 4.5-5lb trigger pull weight?

Here's what's listed on H&K's site =

The P2000 Trigger Variants:

P2000:
Innovative safety trigger with concealed cocking piece in the hammer and centrally located decocking lever for firing in the DA/SA mode.

P2000 V1:
Innovative safety trigger with concealed cocking piece in the hammer, with a constant trigger pull (Combat Defense Action/LEM trigger of 20 Newtons) from the first shot to the last, without decocking.

P2000 V2:
 Like P2000 V1, however LEM/CDA trigger pull 7.3 pounds (32.5 Newtons).

P2000 V3:
Conventional DA/SA trigger and hammer, with decocking.

P2000 V4:
 Like P2000 V1, however CDA/LEM trigger pull 6.18 pounds (27.5 Newtons).

P2000 V5:
Double Action only (DAO), trigger pull approximately 7.87 pounds (35 Newtons).

Thanks, and again, congrats!!!

Thanks!

Let me expound on this a little as I've had a P-2000 for awhile now..
Mags..Typically about $30-35 CDNN has used ones for $19 (USP compact, saw this in a recent ad in shotgun news). Yes, from what I've read on HKpro, P-30 mags WILL fit,(I've never tried this so, I don't know for sure) as well as USP compact mags. The P-30 mags will probably stick out as they are longer and hold more rounds. I'm not sure if P-2000 mags will fit in a SK or not, They may, but the P-2000 mag will probably stick out of the SK a little as well.

Rail..This is supposed to be a universal type of rail..my surefire X-300 snaps right on, As an aside, I've yet to get it to lock on my M&P45.
LEM options..My P-2000 is a factory LEM pistol, I changed it to a "light" LEM (4.5 trigger pull) By changing 2 springs, the trigger return spring, and the firing pin block spring. Both bought from HK for about $10-12, instructions for this conversion are found on the HKpro forums, Getting the TRS in was a bitch, but it was well worth the effort.

The P2000 mags will certainly fit the P2000SK. The mags do stick out further because of the shortness of the P2000SKs grip. A company called X-Grips make an adapter that slides onto the full size mag, which gives you a longer grip and more rounds to carry in your SK model. Since my P2000SK is in .40S&W, the recoil really makes the little SK jump around. I bought the larger magazine, put on the X-grip adapter, and now the grip is the same as the P2000 full size pistol. It really makes shooting it much nicer!

P2000, P2000sk, P30 and USP compact magazines all have the same dimensions in everything except length/capacity.
They are interchangeable like Glock magazines are.

Wow I must be off today...I totally forgot that you could use the same mags but they'd stick out the grip since they're longer. My mistake! I read "will they be an exact fit". I used to run 17 round mags in my 19 all the time.

Would I be able to run 15 round P30 mags with the grip extension that is sold for the P2000SK so there's isn't a gap between the end of the grip and magazine?

The P2000 is a good gun. The P2000 mags will fit a SK but will stick out a little bit. The SK conceals very well with a Crossbreed IWB holster under a loose fitting t-shirt. I carry a full size 12 round mag for a spare when carrying an SK. A word of caution check the roll pins by the receiver/hammer they tend to slide a little bit out of alignment. Just tap them back in place. Also check your sights if you bump them or take a spill. They will slide a little bit. Otherwise the OP basically got a new gun from the pics. Enjoy!!

Meprolight and Trijicon are about your only options for the P2000/SK. They are nearly identical but the Mep's can usually be found a little cheaper. Both are very good if you like a 3-Dot set up.

You should have gotten the 40 caliber instead because it is a lot more deadly. So sure, I'll take that puny 9mm off your hands! LOL

I love these things and congrats on the steal of a price. I do concur that the larger mag releases are nice, but I use my index finger on these guns. So the stock one is just fine for me.

I tried getting used to hitting the mag release with my trigger finger but my hand just wouldn't do it. Using my middle finger was more natural for me and after I finally got the larger mag release from HK, it made a WORLD of difference.

... They also don't notice that it's only ever seen in H&K pictures...
