I think I may have a problem. Just picked up a Noveske VIS upper. I already had a 14.5 bcm middy and recently also got an lmt mrp gp. 2 spikes lowers built, an eotech 512, NIKON m223 2-8x. Along with a safe and other goodies. Been bringing one out at a time to take the kids shooting. Would post pics but am afraid to get em all out at same time. I really hope I am all done with this madness. Although those ACOGs sure do look purdy.

Sweet gunporn there. I have to keep everything black tho. As far as wife knows they're all the same rifle. Mixing in diff colors may tip her off.

That is the key to success with the wife...take the kids along for bonding time.

Ain't that the truth. She grudgingly approves me taking them on our Sat. range trips because since we started going, homework and chores have been miraculously completed daily without even having to ask. Imagine the possibilities!:D

By involving the kids I went from a single 6721 to a RRA NM4A, 6920, CZ 452 Scout, and a Colt Commander.

Being married to a staunch Anti gun nut doesn't help. I am glad to hear that some of you are married to the right person!

Poor guy. I feel for you. Personally, that might have been a deal-breaker for me.

My wife shows no interest in shooting, but she also doesn't begrudge it. As far as firearms go, she's Switzerland. And that is A-ok with me.

Is it me or are there more and more threads popping up that would generally be found on TOS? It seems like everyone is posting a "Hey! Look at me! I spent tons of money, now praise me so I can justify my purchases!" We need to remember why we aren't at TOS...

This thread is light in nature and the OP isn't trying to justify his purchase. Relax and have a cold one.

Yes, it should have been a deal breaker, for both of us. Somehow it happened. I was blinded. I took her shooting once, we used a .22 and she did fine with it. There was this dude in the next lane doing mag dumps with his Glock and he was screaming at the top of his lungs while doing it.......She got really freaked out and that was the end of it. I was pissed at the dude because she was really trying hard but then again if the dude wanted to go apeshit while doing mag dumps, well, thats his business. He wasn't being unsafe or anything, just going apeshit with all of the screaming nonsense. I haven't taken her shooting since and now it has become one of my hobbies that she just tolerates. I don't put in her face or anything. She has told me that she thinks that the presence of a gun makes it easier for a person to want to kill....... I told her that that was absurd and what she said has NO rational thought. I have decided to leave well enough alone.......for now. Sorry to thread hijack and have fun.

Is that a laser device on top of the rail?? Could you please indicate who makes it and if it is legal for civvies??? Thanks, and very nice. They both look like the weapons that one of the instructors was using in the DVD "Art of the tactical carbine" by Magpul Dynamics.

It could be worse......
you could take "the wife" (who loves shooting pistols) and then talk her
into shooting your AR and after 2 or shots... she gets that ear to ear smile.... looks closer at the rifle then at you and says that one word...
MINE!!

Now when you buy ammo and supplies your buying for two.
(and you know her's HAS to be better and nicer than yours!!)

In the "divorce" She may have ended up with all my yard stuff and yard toys (i moved into a place with no yard) and i got the gun stuff
except "her" handguns and a few cleaning supplies for those and those only.

But i still buy my ammo by the case.
just no more looking for electronic ear muffs in Pink (unless i want to go that route.. lol ) or shooting glasses that match well... anything.

Yep, you are right, it could be worse. At least in the "parting" she won't want any of my toys. She will probably take so much money though that I will end up selling all of my collection just to eat my pork and beans.........:laugh:

Duece,

The black one is a PEQ-2A, the tan one is PEQ-15 :) They're not illegal to own, the PEQ-2A can be had fairly cheap these days and pretty easy to find, PEQ-15, not so common and not cheap.

Chris and Travis used KAC URX II handguards, which from a distance could look like the LMT MRP ;)

Duffy,
Thanks, I will google them both and see whats up. Never used one before. I will check them out. Thanks again.
Duece.
PS....I read somewhere in a gun mag that some of those Laser devices are not for civvie use. Is it the rangefinding part that is not available???

Civilians can buy them, just not directly from the manufacturer or dealers. They turn up from time to time, it can be a PD or end user selling them, as long as they're not stolen property they're fine to purchase :)

Wow, can't say I feel any of your pain going on hear, If i go to the range WITHOUT at least inviting the girl I get hell, she enjoys sending rounds down range just as much as I do.

Yep, I got busted a few months ago too. I was building my last AR earlier this year and I guess I couldn't hide all the excitement when I finished it. So all of sudden my fiance turned into Matlock and asked questions and I couldn't lie, so I told her. She said doing this behind her back was like lying. So LIE LIE LIE is the moral of the story. In the end, after she went on her "all money is going to our wedding" speil, she turned sweet again and said I can build as much as I want to after the big day.

You need to have a secret fund you squirrel money away into. Folks that are not into guns can't tell the difference between one and another, especially all within the same family, so you should be able to get away with it, just don't display all of them at once, for if they can't tell the difference between two ARs, they can still count :sarcastic:

You didn't fall for the "do whatever you want after we're married" story did you?

Sweet gunporn there. I have to keep everything black tho. As far as wife knows they're all the same rifle. Mixing in diff colors may tip her off.

HAHAHA ... I was thinking of doing that. I've got a .308 bolt action rifle that I've been hiding from her for almost 2 years. Last year I was going to spring it on her that my buddy at work was going to sell his .308 dirt cheap and that if the price was right I was going to buy it. The plan was a go and then some how a receipt for a stripped lower and LPK pack and CTR stock mysteriously ended up inside my house. It was in my truck at one point. So after explaining to her that I bought said lower and parts, I decided to break the news about my .308 this year or next. :p

Ah, ok. Sounds good. I did a search and yes, those things are pricey. Out of my $ range for now. Why only PDs or end users?? I dug up that mag article and I believe the writer may have been refering to the price and this "end user" deal. Is it because OEMs don't want the liability of the laser falling into the wrong hands??
Oh, and that "secret" fund....uh yeah, that is a definate requirement if a person loves guns and is married to an anti gun freak. I have many secret funds and it helps....
