I was wondering if anyone out there knows of a place where I can get out and shoot a rifle past 100 yards within 3 hours or less of Miami?

I haven't been able to come up with anything or now anyone who has this information.

Thanks

In Central Florida, this range has steel targets and target stands (for paper) at 100, 200 and 300 yards: http://www.volusiacountygunclub.com/index.html. The Central Florida Defensive Carbine Club (http://cfdcc.org/) has its shoot here every third Sunday of the month.

The state range in Sebastian has a 100 yd range and a culvert to shoot through for 200 yards. What about Pops Range in Miami?

I have not been there, but Manatee Gun and Archery club has a 1000 yard range. Would be on the long end of your three hour limit, but I've heard good things about it:

Pop's range has been closed down for a LONG time, after pops passed his wife has run that place into the ground. I won't get into the specifics I know of as this is not the place for that and my wife always tells me to just stay quiet when I have nothing nice to say; sometimes I listen

Thanks for the links guys, just a hair over 4 hours for each facility.
I will see when I can plan to make a trip to one of them, but I am really hoping to find something more in the 2-3 hour range so I can go on a more consistent basis.

DJ- How's that BCM rifle treating you? :D

I'm in cental Palm Beach County and this about 30 minutes northwest of me. Not sure how deep into Miami you are, but from the Broward/Dade county line on I-95 this would be about 1 1/2 hour ride. Also I just tried the website and it wasn't working but I know they're open. This is a police range and is open to the public several days a month. You need to call in advance or check website when it's operational to get open dates. Hope it helps.

Thanks brother that's not too bad of a drive at all for me. I'm about 20 minutes from the Dade/Broward line on the Turnpike. One of my Lt's lives up in Loxahatchee.

there is one on Okeechobee, also. It might be a little further than you would like to drive.

I just checked that place out on suggestion of an email I received, looks good and 2-2.5 hours is not a big deal for me. The stuff 4 hours out is a bit much but might be worth it every now and then for the longer distances.

Thanks

A little late to the rodeo, but Okeechobee Shooting Sports runs to 200 yards at all times, either on the rifle range or the rifle gallery range. They also open to 500 yards, this month 3 times after hours on Fridays. Plans are for taking the rifle gallery range out to 1000 yards eventually. I am a member out there, the ride is 55 minutes for me from Jupiter.

The guys at the Indian River shooting range are excellent. There is a range with 50, 100 and 200 yard distances. Good prices. Worth the travel.
