I already have a noveske 12.5 s.s. SBR and 18" rifle gas s.s. wylde SPR
I would like to build something more general purpose with a chromelined nato chamber for Carbine courses run n guns pretty much everything. My thoughts are to get a 20" govt. and have it re contoured to a pencil/ltwt spec with a pinned gb and going with a trx extreme 13" rail. My SPR shoots so soft with a break on it. Or should i just go 16" midlength

An 18 is a bit too long for a GP and carbine class weapon IMHO. The longest Id personally go for a GP weapon is a 16incher.
Your 12.5 SBR actually makes for a very good GP weapon. What's the reason behind you not wanting to run that?

I travel out of state and would rather avoid the NFA hassle. Also would be a backup to the sbr.

Oh ok. That case, Id look a good LW CL 16" midlength.

I'd say KAC, DD or BCM... Hammer forged and light weight - you'd be good to go!
