This is not my first AR but it is the first one that I assembled that did not consist of pinning an upper on to a factory assembled lower and calling it a build. This is also the first time I assembled a stripped lower. Here she is:

BCM 14.5" Middy upper with a permed A2X FH, Spikes BCG, BCM Gun Fighter Mod 4 CH. Troy Drop in rails. Tango down stubby VFG. Stream light TLR1. DD 1.5 Buis. Aimpoint 2moa Comp M3 on a ADM AD68H mount.

RRA lower assembled with a DD LPK. BADASS Ambi Selector. Milspec receiver extension, Spikes ST2 buffer. IKH Slap Plate. Magpul BAD Lever. Magpul MIAD grip and CTR stock.

Sorry for all of the pics. :D

Nice job!

How is the balance? What sort of goal were you going for with this one?

Can't wait for range report.

Very nice!

Got a question though, not related to the weapon. How do you get that solid white background in your pics? PM if you like.

Actually it balances pretty good. The Aimpoint does add a lot of weight though.
My goal was to build a weapon as close to the left hand side of the chart as possible.
It is for HD SHTF range use and plinking and maybe a carbine class or two when I can afford it.
I sighted in the Aimpoint on Friday and got pretty decent groups but I still do better with irons. I need more practice.
You can see pics of my targets on the AR general discussion board here under the title" Is this acceptable accuracy for a 2 MOA Aimpoint?"
I had no malfunctions of any kind. It was boringly dependable.

Nice setup. You could replace the Troy rail with a Magpul MOE handguard or Centurion Arms rail to loose some weight. I had a mid length Troy drop in rail and wasn't impressed.

Im thinking of a drop in 2 piece free float rail for it. The ones I have looked at are kind of spendy. Im still catching my breath from paying 600 bucks for the aimpoint and the mount.

Does the Aimpoint and mount really add that much weight?

9.5 oz for the optic with the rubber cover installed and 3.5 oz for the mount for a total of 13oz. Its definitely noticeable.

Whoa, didn't realize it was that much. My lw middy feels, well...lighter when I'm just using irons. When I put the Aimpoint on, I'm faster but the weapon now feels less manuevable.

Might have to consider something lighter...

lookin sweet. I like all the cool paint jobs, but there's just something sweet and sinister about all black.

It compensates for the weight by making your wallet lighter.
