Glock 19 Exo barrel problem?

I just picked up a brand new Glock 19 Exo. Unfortunately, I did not inspect the barrel until I got home. When looking down the barrel the last 1/3 near muzzle looks like it has been pitted/rusted. I wonder though, if this may be just left overs from the refinishing. The chamber end had some what looked like paint shavings on it as well.

I wonder if other Exo Glocks looked the same. Should I contact Glock before shooting it?

I've seen that before too and I believe it is just a coating that is normal. I initially thought it was rust as well but it wasn't.

Spray some clp and run a bore-snake through it a couple times. See if it wipes off clean and you can also spot pitting if there is any.

From what I have been told, there is no Nickel Boron on the outside or inside of the barrel. The factory black finish is removed. I doubt they did anything on the inside of the barrel.
If it does not clean out with a good soak, send it in for warranty. Keep us posted.

I didn't know that they only took the finish off the barrel. I had been told that they also treated the internal metal parts. That was the whole idea of Fail Zero wasn't it?

On their site they say the coating allows the fire arm to operate without oil or grease. If the barrel has some sort of corrosion I think it needs to be oiled. Was thinking about getting one, now I'm not so sure.

Glocks need to be oiled or greased to operate?

As for the corrosion or whatever it is, I have seen stuff like that before on parts that have been coated or treated. A lot of times they are subjected to some type of chemical bath and that is what happens.

I would contact the manufacturer and see what they say, but I would not be surprised if it disappeared after some use.

The barrel issue was a manufacturing defect. They have another barrel on order to be coated. The defect was due to a manufacturing process that has since been changed.
Talo folks were very easy to communicate with.

I fully believe that the barrels are coated with EXO as well, and it is not true that they simply strip the factory finish. I have handled several examples of the Talo EXO Glocks and the barrels are obviously coated with EXO.

I believe this rumor came from the difference in appearance from the barrel to the slide. The difference is due to the different surfaces of each part. The factory barrels are polished/smooth prior to being finished. The slide has a textured surface which gives the EXO a matte/grey finish.

Upon inspection of my Talo G19, it looked similar with copper fouling in the grooves. I gave it a heavy cleaning with M-Pro 7 and some Bore tech, finished it off with Earl. Looked perfect. Had me worried for second. No flaking no nada.

That G19 does fit my hand very well for the smallest full sized gun I can CCW.

Just need to find a G17 Talo now. :D

I picked up a new G27 Sat. w the same issue. Didn't notice it until I was prepping the gun for a range trip. Went to the TALO site, and the only contact option is email. I'm hoping this will be resolved quickly.
