This is a project guns build. It was a unissued 1960 Polish parts kit with chrome lined barrel. The tool kit even came with a extra firing pin and extractor. The flash suppressor should be here Wednesday.

That is badass. I would love to have a RPD. Where did you pick up the parts kit from? I look forward to the range report!

Parts kit from military gun supply. I was told by stan at project guns that the parts kits are drying up.

He does them in batches and he is just starting another run. Turn around is 2 months.

That looks awesome. I love my semi 1919a6, but an RPD would rock. The idea of shoulder firing the 1919 like the picture above is not appealing...

Enjoy. Yours is beautiful.

Neat to see the end result of Degtyarev's design process. I've always wanted a DP-28, just because I like the overall weirdness of the design, but the RPD would be more practical given the cost of ammo.

I read a few places that the RPD lacked reserve power to lift the belt in adverse conditions. I wonder if you could open up the gas port and get a little more oomph. I also wonder if you could SBR one of these...

video, sorry I don't know how to embed the video. Shot really well, I had 3 failure to fire out of 120 rounds but the primer hits were strong so it looks ammo related.

I decided to add a little color. The failure to fire was caused by new and tight belts. Now that they are breaking in a bit the problem is gone.

I don't know about adverse conditions, but mine lifts the belt fine. There are 3 settings for the gas port.

If you are wondering, here is how he got his to work with the moved back gas block.

I had to cut the spring a bunch for mine to cycle, and it would only feed from drum, it didnt have enough power to feed if the belt was dangling.

I know those chopped RPD's were very popular with Rhodesian troops during their war.

I wonder if they opened up the gas ports?

I didnt on mine and the cyclic rate was SUPER slow.

The one with the moved back gas block had an insanely high ROF.

Id like to see video of it, or read details on what they did specifically.

My flash suppressor and nutsack adaptor came it. Not sure if I like the original styling or the new styling better. What do you think?

Nice. The recoil spring reminds me of what a pain in the ass the SVT-38 and SVT-40 Tokarev rifles are to reassemble with dual recoil springs that aren't guided or captive.
