Well, I figured after 12 years it was time to do some upgrades to my Trusty AR. I had a chance to shoot next to the owner of Bravo Company USA in a class back in June. Paul Is a Former Gyrene who runs an AR Business.

His products are top shelf and the attention to detail is right at the top. I wanted to get an new Upper to replace my 16" HBAR 1/9 twist so I went with a 14.5" Gov Profile 1/7 with a perm Phantom on it.
Heres the two side by side:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v494/harv24/IMG_1071.jpg

I also replaced the Buffer and buffer spring. My original lasted for 14K rds so I thought it was time. I went with a H buffer to see what all the hoopla was about as to slowing the bolt down a bit and softening the recoil. The new one is on top. Notice the spring on the 14K rd count spring just a tad compressed..

.

I also replaced my 1 " cheapo ring that was my weapon light mount. It finally took a digger in the grave and I thought it was time to upgrade. So I went with the VLTOR 1" light mount. Very nice piece of kit and secures my light well.

The ARMS M68 Mount got replaced during my class with Pat Roger's in June. I think he just got tired of looking at my mount every year and replaced it with a LaRue LT150.
(Thanks again Brother.. ) What is their to say other then it's a Kick ass Mount that works. And to Tell ya what a Great American Mark LaRue is, I emailed him for the adjustment wrench and He sends me the wrench, the Torx wrench, A Dillo and a Tan laRue Hat...... Now I can go OD or Tan with my laRue Hats. (Thanks again Mark.... )

No rds down range yet, but I will soon take care of that when I'm on vacation in a few weeks. Overall I like the weight of the Gov Profile barrel with the Phantom on it. I also Picked up a LMT BCG as well. Paul recommend the Full Auto carrier so I went with that. The one think I was a little surprised over was the staking job on the LMT Gas Carrier Key vs my Bushmaster. here's what I mean:

The Bushmaster is the one on the top. I thought the LMT would have a little bit more robust Stake job, but not a show stopper as I will take care of that. The LMT did come with a Crane O-Ring Installed in the extractor.

Overall I'm Happy with my choices, now I have to go out and get some rds down range and get everything zeroed see how everything works.

Well, Now I gotta show off my New lower I got. I sold my Full size Colt HBAR to fund my little upgrade. as I did not want to mess with a Big Hole Rifle. I needed a lower and I settled on LMT's. It came with the SOPMOD stock and the MIAD grip. I gotta tell ya, Now I'm torn as to which lower to run with my BCM upper. I'm really diggin the SOPMOD stock and MIAD Grip which I was gonna use for an SPR or possibly a Recon Project.

Way to many decisions for my Paygrade...

NICE upgrade. I am in-process of doing the same thing. Just got my BCM upper and CMT BCG. Next is a MI #17 rail, MP trigger guard, and a VFG. Also looking at a new light, possibly a Pentagon. And I'd love to get one of those new mil-spec EOTechs.

Looks good Harv. I'm sure it'll serve you well. Pat gave you a mount, huh? All I get from that guy is scowls and smacks upside the head!:p LOL! He really is a good guy!

Is there any known problem with the ARMS M68 mount, besides the company owner?

I too would have concern on the LMT staking job on your carrier...

Your On. Send me you Address And I'll ship you the Carrier and return shipping. Just let me know the $$. That tool rocks. I watched Tim L in Pat's class stake a few with that tool. It does an awesome job.

Surprisingly that Bushmaster carrier was Manufactured around 93-94 time frame. Then they started to slip on there staking. I have not looked at a current Bushmaster to see how they do it now.

Nice, Harv. Uncle Pat hooked me up in July at Boone County, too. I'll never buy another ARMS product again.

What's the deal on ARMs products? Has their quality slipped recently or is this a personnel issue?

That tool was used to stake what had been a NIW USGI M16 carrier I acquired in the 80's (came in the wrap unstaked from Smith Ent.) Looked as good as a factory Colt. It made selling it much easier.:D So I could buy a real Colt carrier.

On ARMS, they have a demonstrated tendency to break at the worst possible time and to move when they should stay still. Do a search on 10-8 for "soft mount".

Harv, looking good sir! It is so nice to see a well used carbine instead of 3 or 4 that just sit in a safe and come out for pictures once a month.
