Does anyone have experience with the US Palm ASP C plate carrier? Is it worth buying?

It's my understanding that while the plate /plates included with this product are of sufficient quality, the shape of the plates limits users mobility of the arms around the shoulder because they are not tapered at the top.

Kind of silly the way they have it. You'd save money using less materials tapering it at the corners anyway.

For that price?

I say go with the MayFlower APC, or LBT Slick carrier.

I wish I had gotten the LBT carrier, but I have nooooo complaints about my APC.

Shellback Tactical/TAG Gear's hard plate carrier will work with these.

Well limited mobility is an issue. What would be a good armor to buy for the carriers as they don't come with it. I was only looking at the US palm product because price and it came with armor.

On the mobility issue , I don't speak from prsonal experience. A fella asked about the same carrier on a lightfighter thread and the squared top profile was the big issue. ETA http://lightfighter.net/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/440107306/m/52220634563

Look at the armor SKD sells...I got the Velocity Systems brand...from what I heard and researched before I bought them, they are good to go....which is why SKD carries them :D

Good balance between weight, size, thickness, protection, and price!

Here is another thread discussing this piece of gear...

https://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=66895

I have personally handled this armor system at a class (tried it on). For the price, it isn't bad. I believe you get the carrier, 2 level IV standalone plates, and the backers for about $400. The nylon seems well sewn.

But, this thing weighs a lot and it's very boxy. The plates are AirSave plate overruns/surplus. So US Palm didn't exactly produce them and didn't have any control on the size or contour of the plates they got their hands on.

As a SHTF insurance policy, it's not bad for $400, but I doubt you'd want to use these regularly over the other offerings that other members have already listed. I would save up and purchase some of the tri-curved, lighter material plates if regular use was part of the plan.

Well thanks for the links and info, but I have one other question. What do you think about the Blackhawk STRIKE Cutaway Carrier Slick:

http://www.blackhawk.com/product/STRIKE-Cutaway-Carrier-Slick,1696,83.htm

Or this from Eagle:
http://www.eagleindustries.com/product.php?productid=246&cat=71&page=1

Only reason I ask is because I cant afford $600 carrier plus plates plus pouches atm. I didn't see anything on this carrier in the search function (But I came back with hundreds of hits when I placed Blackhawk in)

For the price of that Blackhawk, I would spend $50.00 extra and get this:

In that price range, go for either the PIG or the Mayflower APC.

Like I said, I have the APC and love it...will be doing a review of it soon...

You can't go wrong with either...

Does the airsave plates work with the mayflower carrier?

Does the airsave plates work with the mayflower carrier?

I don't know that answer, but the whole problem with the US Palm ASP-C system is the AirSave plates being squared and non-tri-curve thus limiting a shooter's mobility and reducing comfort.

geez 17lbs for these plates + carrier. I jumped on those BAE Systems Eclipse Level IV standalone and both plates are about 10 lbs

Price is nice tho, a PIG + 2x BAE Eclipse plates setup is pricier.

The Mayflower APC is designed for plates with "shooters cuts" so no it won't...you'll be happy with the Velocity System plates that SKD sells. I promise :D
