AN/AVS-10 Availability

Anybody have any idea if they will be available to the civvie crowd and if so, when? TNVC, you have any info?

Also, if anyone has gotten their hands on one, I'd certainly like to hear if you think a wider FOV is worth strapping 5+ lbs. to your head.

Not that I have the money for one... But hopefully one day I will.

Not sure when and if. They weigh a ton on your head, but some nifty views from the units and mostly used from air crews.

I would hate to wear these for long durations for ground operations. I.e. Kevlar, (4lbs) + AVS (5lbs) + counter weight (4lbs) = 13lbs = some pretty harsh neck strain.

Panos are heavy but that much more FOV is more than worth it. They greatly increase your situational awareness, and are particularly valuable when working in close proximity to teammates.

Pano's plus the COTI would be pretty much worth the extra weight.
Not cheap.
Until Fusion with the pano that is, unless(until?) the color stuff works itself out.
The nextgen nightvision is pretty exciting.
