This video made me feel pretty good about my first effort at field stripping my 1911.

Let's play a game of "List what he did wrong in this video"

Enjoy:

Thanks for the link! That was entertaining.

Their biggest mistake.... posting their first take, instead of recording and posting one that didn't make them look like total idiots.

My. Dear. God.

The guy taking the gun apart was an idiot. Between his inability to take the pistol apart, and the comments he was making post-disassembly until the end, I have no faith in their abilities whatsoever.

Lol, my thoughts exactly.

The guy obviously has little, to no, experience field stripping 1911s.

The lowpoints, in my opinion, were:

He could not pull the barrel out of the gun, or didn't realize he just had to yank it out.

He forgot to put the guide rod in the gun before he put the slide on.

Frankly, I have no idea what he was doing cleaning it in the first place. Just weird.

two words... Epic Fail!

It is so epic, it is almost a thing of beauty, in a weird sort of way.

So bad it's good. Kind of like Bill and Ted movies? Wyld Stallyns, man! :sarcastic:

OMG! Total FNG move shooting the recoil spring plug across the room! Lucky he didn't put an eye out. Watching him attempt to install the barrel bushing over the recoil spring was pretty informative, too.

I've found that a light coating of plastilube or TW25 works a lot better than Hoppes #9 for lubrication of the slide rails.

The comment he makes towards the end "don't carry a 1911, doesn't suit my tactical..." (or was it tacticool?) "...needs." Kinda says it all. Yep, better stick to Glocks, dude - though I'm somewhat surprised you haven't had a ND attempting to disassemble one. Dorknozzle...

I use TW25 on all my pistol slide rails. Works fantastic.

The guy took the video down.

Could it be because he realized that he would probably lose an asston of money from looking like someone who rides the short bus.

Or maybe he is a member of this forum somewhere and saw us talking all sorts of trash.

By the way, "asston" is a scientific term.

The guy who owns the YouTube account wasn't the dude "field stripping" the 1911. I guess he realized it would be bad publicity for his friend after all of the negative feedback and comments. His other firearms videos, while not the epic failure that ptmccain posted, are questionable as well.
