Guys,
I am trying to decide if I want the "short body shield" cut on a Raven Phantom for an M&P full size 9mm.
I know what the body shield is, but since Raven has virtually no pics on their website, I cannot make a decision as to whether I want the standard (higher) body shield, or if I want the shorter (cut down) body shield. I just need to SEE each style. (hint to Raven to put some damn pics up. That huge website and no pics on the damn site is beyond me.)
Anyhow, I am leaning towards the shorter/cut down body shield, since I will primarily use this holster for OWB use.
Still though, I'd like to see pics of both, or at least pics of one style or the other.
Can someone show me pics of the Raven Phantom (preferably for an M&P full size gun)???
I'd just like to see the inner side of the holster that rides against the body, since the Raven site doesn't show this part of the holster.
Thanks for any help guys.

Post #216 has pics... https://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?p=654410

For what it's worth, the full body shield helps keep your shirt from getting snagged when you go to reholster. At least that's been my experience.

I personally found that standard shields [sweat guard] tend to print more for me - of course this only matters if you are concerned with CCW & also body type. I'm currently running the RCS abbreviated cut and it works very well on a G19. This set up does well IWB and OWB, however the majority of the the time I run it OWB. Hope the pics give you some sort of idea. YMMV.

Ok thanks for the pics but hang on one second guys. I don't know how "MD CUT" got brought into this, because MD cut has NOTHING to do with the short body shield cut.

l8apex,
Whats more confusing, is you got to talking about "abbreviated" cut and whatnot, and I have no idea what that means. That term isn't used by Raven at all and I need to get this all crystal clear.
I just need to know if that pic you posted with the FDE colored Glock19 has the SHORT BODY SHIELD or the standard (standard/tall) body shield? It sure looks like the SHORT body shield, as opposed to the tall body shield in the very last pic up above that has the orange safety/training Glock. Am I correct that you have shown the SHORT BODY SHIELD?

Now Willow,
In regard to your post, you too have started talking about MD cut, which has nothing to do with "short body shield cut".
However, it APPEARS as if you have posted a pic of both the short body shield (top pic), and long body shield (bottom safety orange Glock pic).
Is this correct?
Someone tell me before my head explodes! Thanks for the pics guys.

It is the short cut. I believe the MD cut some are referring to includes the short cut with a zero degree cant as ran by Magpul Dynamics.

New pictures and a streamlined order process will be ready in the coming weeks, we know the webstite is outdated.

The reason guys are referencing MD Cut is because it includes the short body shield. There are only two shields - the standard (tall) and the short. Any one you see that is shorter than normal is the short shield (unless a user modified the holster himself).

I personally prefer the standard body shield, but it is a personal preference.

Don't have any pics for you, but I have the short body shield on all my phantoms. I detest the long shields on any holster and I find that they really slow my draw and block my ability to get a good grip on the gun while it is holstered. I run my phantoms IWB and have no issues with my shirt snagging during re-holster, nor do I have any issues with the gun rubbing my skin as I always wear an undershirt.

I would get it without. I find my shirt catches on the extended area when reholstering. It's quite annoying.

Daily M&P9 full size in a Phantom. This is a 'Magpul cut' which is essentially a 0° cant and short sweat gaurd.

Love it.

For OWB I carry I'd avoid the sweat guard every time.

If I get another Phantom (and I'm sure I will), it will have the short body shield. Not that the standard shield was a problem...use it daily with no issues.

Wow - just took a look at the back of my holster - I've been a Raven user for three years and a month! :D

After 6 months of using my MTAC in IDPA, I've come to the conclusion that, for me at least, sweat shields are an absolutely unacceptable compromise. They seriously screw up the initial grip and draw stroke enough that I don't see myself buying anything else with a sweat guard again. Thankfully my MD cut Phantom just went into production and won't be long now!
