Are there any companies out there that make a current L1A1 clone for less than a thousand bucks?

No. None reliable or an "accurate" clone.

DSA is now offering US receivers based on the Australian pattern Inch receiver.

Grab up a L1A1 kit and have at it.

DSA's start at $1,200ish and go to $4k fully loaded.

I love my 16" DSA Stainless Tactical paratrooper, but she broke the bank.

I would be suspect of one since a DSA receiver sells for $449, add a parts kit and labor and I say the DSA rifles are a steal at $1200.

DS Arms is a quality company. They stand behind their product and the quality is excellent. There is no doubt there have never been FALs made better than they are made today by DSA (yes even a Belgium FN is not as good as a DSA).

However, they do not make a L1A1 clone, at the moment.

I'll try calling you tomorrow. If you will "settle" for a metric rifle, we might be able to get you one for that money.

What countries produced "inch" FAL's?

I've seen a lot of FAL parts kits listed, but many of them only list the country of origin and not whether it's inch or metric.

Do any parts work on both?

FYI - JOHNO & I worked out a deal for the barrel.

The British Commonwealth used "Inch" pattern FAL's....Britain, Australia, Canada, New Zealand.

Britain, Australia and Canada built the rifles, all slightly different (like AK's built by different contries), but they all take the same Inch pattern magazine.

The vast majority of Inch kits in the US are Australian in origin. There are a few Brit kits running around, but very, very few Canadian C1 kits.

Now you need to go watch "The Odd Angry Shot".......Aussie SAS in Vietnam.
