Since reading the "Trigger Happy" article in G&A's BOTAR15 I'm a little confused as to which trigger to purchase now. Here's a list of the triggers they tested.

Geissele S3G, JP, Rock River, Timney, and the Wilson TTU.

The Wilson TTU scored best overall as far as pull, ease of installation, and reliability.

I was considering purchasing a S3G trigger for my AR for 3Gun competition, but after reading this article I wanted to get more opinions on AR triggers for competition shooting. Please sound off here if you have any time behind the Geissele or the Wilson TTU.

I will readily admit my non-acquaintance with the others, but I have installed four of the Jard "non-adjustable" trigger/hammer units in ARs. Being a believer in Murphy I went for the 3# triggers, which can be upped by swapping a small coil spring. Of the four triggers, I sent one back to Brownell's for creep; the rest were just fine. At least in my case, they had everything I needed and nothing I didn't.

I just wish some of these aftermarket triggers had been around back in the mid-80s when I had a creepy :bad: CAR-15.

I'll just throw out my experiences with a few triggers I have or am running now. I have 9 AR style rifles and am running a few different triggers for different applications. Here are the triggers and which guns there on. I will also add I am weird, I like a little creep in the trigger before the sear breaks. I like to be able to load the trigger before it goes off.

1. Chip Mccormick 3# curved: MK12 mod 0 and a Compass lake Franken gun. (have 2 of these)
* Breaks clean at about 3# with zero creep. Wish they had a little bit of creep. Good solid reset, like a glock.

2. AR Gold curved: 6.5mm Grendel long range gun.
*3-4# slight creep. very light, long, soft reset

3. Geissele 4#: Noveske N6. Long first stage, second stage breaks clean but has long reset and then a lot of take up after reset to find the trigger.

4. Jard 4# adjustable. Had a great press but never could keep it adjusted and finally pulled it out for a Mccormick.

5. Timmney 3# Noveske LoPro Reece. Smooooth, a little creep, solid reset, very consistant!

6. GI triggers reworked by me (have 4 of these), one 16 reece fur rifle. 3 SBR's. Break at 5# smooth, moderate creep, consistent. never ever worry about them.

If I was going to switch every gun over to one trigger right now it would be the Timmney. (this was a surprise to me too) I only have about 1000 rds on this trigger so I will have to wait and see how well it holds up to high round count and abuse.

I might drop a Timmney into my 7.5" Noveske diplomat and run it there because it's such a loud violent little bastard that I don't clean, and am trying to kill! It is starting to become my favorite and gets lots of rounds every time I go to the range

Until that day,

I just installed an S3G trigger in the gun I'm building, I havn't shot it yet as I'm still waiting on mags and ammo to come. The installation didn't seem difficult at all, the instructions provided were pretty good.

Just based on dry firing I can say that this thing is ****in awesome and I wish I could get the same pull and reset in every semi-auto gun I have. The discription given by geissele is spot on, you apply preasure it starts moving back then click no stacking or hitch. The reset seems to be perfect for fast follow ups but as I have not been able to shoot it I can't say for sure.

I havn't tried any of the other triggers you listed but I really cant see how any of them could be any better for an AR-15 to me the S3G is perfect. The only thing I could see someone not liking is what some might call creep, it doesn't break like a glass rod but it wasn't designed to. If I were using an AR for bench rest shooting I would look for something more like the 1.5# timney in my M700 but, for fast accurate shooting I much prefer the S3G.

There is an epic thread around here somewhere that reviews 6 or 8 different triggers and gives conclusions. Geissele triggers seemed to come out on top due to the fact that they offer the great two stage, etc. but also still deliver full power ignition to hard primers.
Try searching to find this.
Here's a couple links to what I dug up in about 2 mins of searching:

These threads contain a great deal of information from knowledgeable guys, and should answer most of your questions.

I'm a big Geissele fan, but I just got through playing with a Wilson TTU 3G trigger over the weekend. It was VERY nice and I think I'll pick one up to test. I like that it's a drop in unit with nothing to fiddle with.

I just got my SD3G in the mail and installed. Installation wasn't any different than any other trigger. Reset is short. The flat trigger is awesome. I won't be able to run it until tomorrow :( after a half day of work:D I'll report back. SSA and GI triggers are the only others in my experience. I want to say this will sit in my other AR and every other I build from here on out, BUT I'll wait until I get range time tomorrow.
