**Disclaimer...I tried to use the search function for a previous thread, but it would not work properly. It may be an IO error.**

I just purchased an Aimpoint PRO. It is my first personally owned RDO. I have been issued RDO's before. Army doctrine or agency policy has always dictated at what distance they were zeroed for.

What distance do you zero your RDO at? Why that distance?

There was a great thread on here about the value of different zero's, that I'm not having any luck finding currently. When I get home to my big computer I'll stick it in here. In short it's a personal decision, every zero from 25-300 has something going for it in specific applications. Asking for what the best zero is, is going to generate about as much consensus as asking what the best caliber is.

What are you going to be using your Aimpoint for?

For LEO work, the two most common zero distances used is either a 50yd or 100yd zero. Either of them work perfectly we for what we do in urban areas. I prefer the 100yd zero because there is less hold over/hold under to account for within the ranges I am likely to make engagements (0-150yds). Basically it shoots flatter within those ranges than any other zeroing option.

Do a google search for an article written by Chief Jeff Chudwin named "Long gun zero" in LawOfficer.com magazine.

A quick way to get "on paper" at 100yds is to adjust your point of impact to directly 1.5" below your point of aim @ 25yds. You must then go to 100yds to make any necessary corrections and confirm your zero @ 100yds.

I generally run a 50yd zero for my RDS and BUIS. Approximats a 200m zero, and works pretty well for what I do with the carbine. (<300yd range work)

Here's another pretty good thread from 2009 on the topic: https://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=37069

Another one here, complete with color pics: https://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=34671

I use a 100 yd zero on my Aimpoint and Troy BUIS.

Here's the thread I believe some folks are looking for (it has Aimpoint-specific zeroing targets): https://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=75940
