Rail looks fantastic! Oh, and nice shooting;)
Very impressive. Now to decide on waiting for this one, or shaving my FSB and going with the 12" C4.
Thanks for the pics. The rail looks great! Any idea on the price and when they will be available for purchase?
Thanks
My 6920 wants a 9.5 cutout real bad!

Very nice!
Very cool rail, thanks for the pics and vid!
Does anyone know the weight for that particular rail?
ETA: The standard 10" rail is 11.4oz, so I guess this one will be a bit lighter than that. Cool!

Hmmm, I really like those. Could be a replacement for my mid-length MOE.
Sorry, Lee.

Well, different style, but in realty my pictures were taken by Ted Tae in an outdoor setting, my picture would pale by comparison to neither of them.
I know. I'm just making fun of Stick for being so high quality.
Great, thanks. Now I'm going to have 70's porn music running through my head every time I see a Stick picture now.
I really like the looks of the cut out handguard. I am definitely leaning towards picking up one of these for my 12.5" Kino rifle.
Stick,
Do you happen to have any pics of the ne C4 cut-out rail on a Kino upper?

A SF Scoutlight on a Gear Sector mount next to the FSB is gonna be waycool. I hope you sell complete uppers Monty. I'm lovin my 12". Thanks for a great product.

I've asked this question twice and it might have gotten overlooked but I think it's a valid question.
does the cutout on the bottom of the rail allow use of the bayonet lug?

It appears they altered the original design to maintain the lugs functionality

man those look so fantastic
It appears they altered the original design to maintain the lugs functionality
it does not. or it might if you are saying that the final design was changed to allow...
but I just got a reply from Monty that says the intent is not to allow access to the bayo lug, simply that clearance was needed for the lug as it wouldn't fit inside the profile of the rail.
my interest in this is that at first glance it appears it might. and simply leaving it open invites questions as to whether it does. regardless of whether it does or does not, it's good kit and I intend to get one. I'll just have to make do with the bayonet on pistol that some company produced some time ago...

That makes sense.
Im sure you can find a picatinny rail adapted bayonet lug you could mount on there somewhere.
at first glance it appears it might.

This may be a dumb question BUT...i'll ask anyway.
When installing these handguards, cant you just cut the delta ring and handguard cap with a dremel and not even bother removing the FSP or gas tube?

You Can. I just did my 12". the hardest part was cutting the HG cap since its sits against the lip on the BBL. I ended up sliding the FSB forward to finish the cut.

Did you partially disassemble the Delta rings first? If you do it makes it easier.

Yup, cut the delta first. It's how the cap is sandwiched by the FSB and that lip made it difficult to cut out. It's why I had to slide the FSB forward.

You can use a Dremel to cut the delta ring, then tin snips on the handguard cap. The HG cap is pretty soft. Try making two cuts to form a triangle, then used pliers to work the piece until it fatigues at the part closest to the barrel. Probably 3-to-5 minutes working carefully so as not to scratch/gouge the barrel.
Not my idea; got it from someone else here on m4c. It worked well for me.
On another note, I have the 9" mid-length on a BCM/BFH middy. I believe these are terrific handguards, and the mid-length cutout version is even better. Great job Monty/CA!

For anyone who watches the video, there is some good information, though it could have been condensed. I'll mention there is no need to cut the spring or clip in the delta ring assembly, those pieces can be removed by grabbing them with pliers and twisting them off. I would also recommend wrapping the receiver and barrel with a rag, and leaving the delta ring exposed in between. This makes it simple and a slip won't gouge anything.
I imagine the FSB cut out should work with a Switchblock then?
Did I miss the sizes? Carbine and midlength?
ETA: Just read Monty's post, no carbine yet :(

Questions:
1) How is the OD of the rails? Is is comparable to the DD Omega? This is what I currently have, so it's my reference point.
2) Is there any other rail system that attaches the way the Centurion does? I don't think I've seen anything like that. Don't most other systems require the removal of the FSB? It looks like a very solid system, more so than my DD Omega.
Any feedback would be appreciate.

The C4 rails are a little wider, the Omega is the thinnest (or close to it) rail. Comparing the two is an unfair contest to the Omega rail, the LITE rail would be closer to its equal, though the way the C4 installs, its antirotation features, and QD sockets are things the LITE rail would have a hard time comparing with.
Many rails require the FSB removal, some don't.
This is the only thing thats close to the C4 and its what I run on my duty AR.
http://www.mwgco.com/images-product/arms/50M-CV-A.jpg
It weighs 8.6oz and all you have to do is cut the delta ring, no need to mess around with cap.
I have also done mag dumps with it and can tell you the heat shield works wonders.
Although I will probably be swaping this out as soon as thered a C4 carbine FSP cut out rail available so I can mount my light a bit forward.

So, basically, the C4 and LITE rail install the same, right? Meaning on both you just gotta cut off the DELTA RING assembly, right? I'm looking for something a schmuck like me can install without having to remove the FSB.

No, not at all. C4s require removal of the delta ring and the handguard cap. DD Lite rails use a proprietary barrel nut.

I dont know if I would put an ARMS rail close to a C4.

Omega rail or the C4.
Omega basically drop in.

Okay, now I got it. Thanks. And, yeah, the C4 does appear to be more robust in how it attaches as compared to my Omega. The C4 for is in between a drop in and a "gunsmith" level rail, wherein there is the need for a proprietary nut. More options are always good.

WOW that rail looks great, i also am super jealous of your suppressor awesomeness haha
I dont know if I would put an ARMS rail close to a C4.
Other than being a selective rail system type, the mounting system is the same as a C4. The only difference is on the ARMS you have 6 screws as oposed to 4 on the C4. I am sure 4 is more than enough. My rail has seen plenty of dailly abuse and has never come loose since the day I droped it in. Sure ARMS got a lot of bad rep for their mounts, but this is not the same product. Its just another option for someone who is looking for a drop on FF rail.
I've got ARMS products that I like, but since this isn't an ARMS thread.....

I pre-ordered one last Friday from the Centurion Arms website. The next day (Saturday during the holiday weekend) I got an email saying it shipped. Got it Tuesday. Great rail. It locks up great. Blows away the omega rail. One feature I really like is that there are two tabs. One on each side of the upper half that extend out and make contact with the upper receiver so it lines up nice and prevents it from rotating.

Stick, Nice pics of that Resco Patriot ! I'm sure those shots made Smitty proud. I only wish the lug width on the patriot was a little wider than 20mm. That watch deserves a wider strap!

Believe it or not, I don't know him, and I don't think he has any idea who I am either. Its a nice watch, but I know what you mean on the band, I wouldn't mind one a bit wider.
Any word on when these will be available in FDE?

Anyone able to post a picture of the midlenght cut out C4 next to a DD 12" midlength FSP?
Digging up a dusty thread here because I've run into an issue.
I ordered the carbine cutout rails a couple weeks ago, not initially realizing I had to remove the handguard cap. I'm usually a hands-on guy, but something about messing with the FSB makes me nervous. SO then thought I could find somebody who could help me install them. Unfortunately, it turns out that nobody I've talked to wants to touch this thing.
The few gunsmiths around here say you can't just eliminate the handguard cap without replacing it with a shim. They also say you can't move the FSB with realigning it with lasers! I thought that the FSB would line up fine since there are probably notches in the barrel from the factory.
I don't mind cutting the delta ring, but everybody refuses and they want to remove the barrel. The hardest part for me is removing the handguard cap. I lack experience and don't know if I should try removing the FSB or trying to cut the cap off in place, especially after what these guys have been saying.
I'm looking for any of the following: Someone within a few hours of a drive to help me out (preferred and willing to pay), very detailed instructions, someone to send the upper to (least preferred because I don't want my duty rifle out of commission too long).

Your gunsmiths are either retarded or too lazy to do some work.
Unpin the FSB and slide it forward, cut off the cap, and reinstall the FSB. Make sure the upper is solidly held in place when removing and driving the FSB pins back in. You don't want the upper bouncing around with each hammer strike.

First, I'd never ever use those gunsmiths for anything...ever.
But here is a great video tutorial on how to cut off the delta ring.
Part 1: http://youtu.be/I3kH908oaXI
Part 2: http://youtu.be/u_cAC7E3WJA
As to the hand guard cap, I'd use the same method, perhaps shoving something sacrificial in between the barrel and cap just in case you get carried away with your dremel.

I don't want my duty rifle out of commission too long).
Once you do this, you will be stunned at how simple it is, and you will never have any respect for those "Gunsmiths" again.
1. Clear the weapon, remove the handguards.
2. Wrap the receiver behind the delta ring with a towel or tshirt to prevent scratches/ nicks.
3. Cut the Delta ring cap at 9 and 3 o'clock. When you are most of the way through, use a flat head screw driver and pop the D-ring cap off.
4. With the Delta ring spring exposed, grab it with pliers and twist it off.
5. Tap out the gas tube roll pin and remove the gas tube, if you don't want to do this, it will take you longer to make the cuts. Make cuts with a dremel or similar tool, once the cuts are most of the way through, you can use a pair of vise grips and twist them off and away from the barrel.
6. Install the rail, and you are done. Without pulling the FSB you won't have even changed your zero on the weapon.

Thanks, gentlemen, for the tips and making me check my balls. I shouldn't have let those guys make me nervous.

So this is where all the people from Cheat-cago hiding out.:D
I was thinking of visiting Greg at Article 2 to take the Delta ring out of my mid length so I can install this same rail.
I figure if markdh720 can do it, I can do it too. I just need to know what Dremel wheel to take it out with.
Can someone give me a hint?
Now if Stickman would stop posting Fortis Rev on his FB, it would make my decision to go with Centurion mid length FSB so much easier :jester:
