View Full Version : Any practical difference between BCM Gen1 & Gen2 M4 stocks?

I can visually see the small differences- do these actually translate to any practical advantages or shortcomings?

I don't think so. I believe that Paul from BCM said that the Gen 1 was basically the newer commercial style stock while the Gen 2 was the traditional Colt/Mil issue style stock. I went with the Gen 2 for no other reason than the Gen 1s look like the type of stock that come on cheaper hobby guns, but there shouldn't be any practical difference.

The Gen2 would allow you to fit a bulky sling mount at the receiver plate and still fully collapse the stock. Gen1 you may not be able to fully collapse the stock with a bulky sling mount at the receiver plate. I believe you could convert a Gen1 to a Gen2 in 15-20 minutes with a dremel.
