Started out my first AR10 build with my visit to Camp Perry this year. Got some great deals on the lower, upper, and lower parts kit from Armalite. The rest of the parts are as follows:
16" Med. Contour Noveske barrel, Laure 11.0, Vortex FH, PRI Gasbuster, Armalite BCG, Tango Down FDE rail pannels and grip, Larue VTAC sling, Slash's CAR10 buffer, RRA NM Trigger,Vltor Tube, Sopmod Stock, and Troy sights:

The upper was built by Noveske. I sent him some of my parts and he provided the rest. The rifle is also a new home to my Leupold MR/T and Harris Bipod, both wearing Larue mounts. All together, with an unloaded mag, the rifle comes in at around 12 lbs.

Overall, I am quite impressed by this build. It feels solid as a rock. Absolutely no movement between the upper and the lower. The balance feels great both with the bipod and the scope and without. It took some trial and error with some of the parts, but it came together in the end.

After playing with this rifle for a while, this is going to be my new Recce/Recon platform. This Noveske has an identical twin in 5.56 (only difference is a Larue 13.2 which will be replaced with the 11.0) which previously filled this roll. The 5.56 Noveske will eventually end up with a 1-4 variable optic.

Range report coming next week. Thank you to everyone who helped in this build and offered their advice.

+1

Now all you need is an Ops 3rd model. :D

Got it out to the range today for the first time. Decided to dedicate an Eotech to this gun instead of magnified optics. Sighted it in at 50 yards and did most of my shooting at around 75 yards.

The recoil on the rifle was less then expected, much less then the G3's and Fal that I used to own. Also much better in the accuracy department.

No problem hitting pop cans at 75 shot after shot. Did not have much of a chance to do accuracy testing since I was shooting in the rain.

The only problem that I ran into was some FTF which was only an issue when using a specific mag.

Are you using the .308 specific EOtech?

There is an EoTech that is .308 specific?? Why?

Yes, it has hold over points I believe. Why?...no idea. I prefer the MRT on SteveO's gun on a previous pic by the way.

The MR/T and the Larue mount that I have pictured is up for sale now to fund a Nightforce. I decided to use the Eotech on this gun because it is faster than magnified optics, and lets face it, at 16" it is still a carbine. I have been thinking of adding a magnifier with a flip to the side mount, but want to handle one before I make the purchase. I have a feeling that this rig will be used more then the others for a while.

That AR10 looks great - nice job. You are right, at 16" it is still a carbine, but with .308, it can still reach out and wreck someone's day at a distance greater than a 5.56 ever could :-)

It's a tough decision - non-magnification is faster, but .308 can reach out there too.

I think I have made my mind up and will go with the magnifier on this gun. When are you planning on your LMT. I think I will do mine in the beginning of next year. Let me know, and by the way, nice to see you here;)

Needs a 7.62 Shot Dot Gen II ;)
600m engagement capability with BDC and x4 mag, and a 1x (ish) red dot for CQB...

Steve0,

Great looking set-up! Does she still run well for you?

She is running great. The only thing that was a problem was one of the mags but Armalite is taking care of it.

The new EOTech's with the hold over dots are made for machine gunners. (5.56N, 7.62N, and 50BMG available.)

They have abbreviated cross hairs instead of the 65MOA ring and 1MOA dot. I'm not sure I'd want one on anything to be used up close.

Are those dots for 1000; 1,500; and 2,000 yards/meters?

I am considering a TA33-9 or a TA33R-9 for this rifle. Anyone have any experience?
