I have the MGW tool, got it from Brownell's, and it works very well.

I think he wants a FRONT sight tool. And Brownells has that too.

I've probably swapped out 500 sets of Glock sights using the Glockmeister tool with the punch on the other end. The punch is borderline useless and will bend with almost no pressure but the nut driver is still perfect 8 years later.

How in the hell did I miss that.

I also have the front site tool from Brownell's, and would love to tell you the brand.

Except I can't find it.

This is a real popular one on Glock Talk. Or you can grind down a 3/16 nut driver so it will catch.

I've used a couple of cheapo ones in the past but they all broke quickly. I picked a GLOCK OEM one last year ... the new style with the magnetic tip. Guess what? It broke too. It was great for a while but was recently trying to remove a set of factory installed GLOCK NS ..... snap. I called GLOCK and they told me to send it back for a replacement ($30 tool) .... that was a couple of weeks ago. I am still waiting.

I just ordered one of the Wiha ones to try out. $8 shipped is better than $35 shipped for the GLOCK one that I know is a bit fragile. I probably should have bought two of them come to think of it. O well.

I was recently in the market for a Glock front sight tool. I was looking around online and remembered I had bought my dad a Wheeler Gunsmith Screwdriver Kit a couple years ago, and guess what? It has a bit included that was designed for the front sight. Worked perfect, maybe you know of someone with this kit as it is fairly popular.

I like the lightning strike one as it looks nice and has a clip like a pen for a shirt, used one for countless sight swaps.

Try the Ameriglo tool; it works perfectly.

I got the less expensive tool listed on the Ameriglo site with my sights when I ordered from Aro-Tek and it does work well.

The more expensive one for $29 broke during my first sight change. The walls of the socket just cracked.

Thanks, but the s/h is almost $9. Far from the $8 shipped mentioned above.

I got a deep 3/16 quarter inch drive hex socket from Lowes for 3 bucks, and ground the body thinner with my dremel, and ground the end down a little so it was flat and could get a purchase on the screw. Looks rough and took a fair bit of grinding, but works a treat. This is the part:

The $8 shipped is from the post with the link to Amazon.

I just got mine today. Nice tool, cheap price, and got it very quick.

If you purchase an Ameriglo front sight, it comes with the "cheap" tool. I have probably 10 of them laying around. I've always used these for my front sight swaps. I usually put a small pair of needle nose vise grips on the end and give it a little extra turn to tighten it down. I've yet to break one either.

THIS ^^^^^^^^^^

Actually I'm still using the first one just like that. The knurling is wearing down after a few hundred sights of sights, but it still works just fine.

If it gives up, I probably have a couple dozen to fall back on.

I have both tools, the one that Ameriglo includes with their front sight and the screw driver one from Wiha Tools. The tool Ameriglo throws in works OK but the screw driver set up is way better and it is much cheaper than $30 for some of the others.

THIS. I used the Amazon link and it was less than $8 shipped. I did notice though right after ordering mine it showed as out of stock. I must have got the last one they had at the time. Sorry. Mine should arrive any day now.

I did get my replacement GLOCK OEM one in the mail the other day.

The cheap one Ameriglo gives with sights ... I have a ton of those too but never feel I have got the nut tight enough with it. I can never tell if it's in good enough or not. I used it and pliers on one last week and checked it when the GLOCK tool arrived. Surprisingly, it was tight enough already.

Just a heads up the Wiha Nut Drivers are back in stock on the Amazon link, placed an order immediately myself.

Update: I don't care for the above tool I purchased. it's fine to remove screws but it's a bitch to put them in with it as the screw gets turned sideways easily in the driver and is extremely difficult to get started and stay straight. At least I didn't pay much for it. It's a good enough backup.

You could try padding the driver socket with a small piece of toilet paper or someting similar to make it shallower....its what I did with my homegrown shaved down socket - works great.

The method I use is flip the slide and drop the screw in the hole, hold it in place with your finger, flip the slide and thread the sight on for a turn or two, slide the sight into place and then finish off the screw with the driver.

Ameriglo's economy model is great, I have handful of them as well. Another reason that the only night sights on my Glocks are Ameriglos.

3/16" nut driver grinded down to fit. It'll cost you $3-$10 and 5 minutes of your time.

Okay, after stripping the HIVIZ front sight tool, and never being a fan of how little grip surface it has... I'm in the market for a new tool. I am looking hard at the Wiha tool mentioned in this thread (http://www.amazon.com/Wiha-26547-Precision-Driver-Inch/dp/B000O5ILUM) My concern is that searching customer reviews and various websites, some will say it works for the G34 and some will say it doesn't fit.

I have a 34 and a 17L, so this is kind of a make or break issue. Can anyone confirm for me that it works or doesn't work with those slides?

Thanks!
