I have a USP .45 fullsize and I'd like to get a smaller one in 9mm. Is there any reason to pick the newer P2000 over the USP Compact?
I won't be CCWing it or using it in any capacity other than fun stuff at the range (I hope).
I tried the P2000sk (just handled it, no firing), but the short grip did not feel right.
I picked a P2000 over a 9mm USPc just because of the grip, I like the feel of the P2000 a bit more then I did the USPc.
Both are great guns and I don;t think you could go wrong with either but IMHO it comes down to personal preference.

IMO , the USP Compact has without a doubt, the best ergonomics and most comfortable fit of any pistol on the market today. Even now with all of the newer designs coming out. The P2000 is comfortable; however, lacks the good, chunky feel of the Compact. Also, I've never been too big on being confined to one mode of fire, S/A - D/A. I enjoy the "cocked and locked" capability that the USP series offers as well as the ability to decock at my disposal. Plus, look on the bright side, you'll save some $$$ with the Compact, as well.......
Much better than USP ergonomically...Personallly, I am waiting for the HK45, if 9mm is your bag, than this the your pistola!

The USP C and P2000 use the same mags, right? So the grip ergos should be the same?
I liked the idea of HK45, until I saw the "Spiderman" grips...

Yes, The 40 and 9mm USPc use the same magazines as the P2000.

They use the same mags but the ergonomics aren't even close.
Have owned both in 9mm. The P2000 by far feels much better in my hand compared to the USPc.
However, thats why Baskin-Robbins has over 31 flavors. Try both and see what you think.
I have had a 9mm P2000, LEM version with the spring kit that lightens trigger pull to about 5 pounds for several months now. Very, VERY happy with it. The interchangeable backstrap was also important to me; most ergo pistol I have ever owned. This from a 1911-aholic.
Stay safe.
