I've got an AR in 1:9 and was thinking of getting a Ciener kit for it for cheaper range practice.
I imagine I can deal with the twist rate via ammo selection, i.e., try a few varieties until I find a loading that works well enough (mostly interested in 25-50 yds.).
But, one thing I was concerned about is leading of the gas port. Is this going to be an issue? This carbine nightlights as a defensive weapon so I would not want to subject it to anything that would compromise its reliability in that role.
Obviously I would clean it and replace the 5.56 BCG after shooting .22LR, but if lead builds up in the gas port from the soft, unjacketed bullets, I'm thinking it would reduce my gas pressure over time.
