Now a VFG/standard HG question

I have a BCM upper that has std HGs (Cav Arms) and want to set up this upper the same as my other other which has a DD Omega rail :

I think I saw a thread where there's a company that makes a QD cup(?) that one can install. Or, will it be better just to buy a Magpul HG? I'd rather not, as I've already put in some work attaching the front light mount, but, if there's no practical way, I'll just go the Magpul route.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

ETA: I want to put the QD point on the top half of the HG closest to the rear of the HG.

Perfect! Now all I gotta do is find a short piece of picatinny rail to put on stubby TD VFG in order to copy what I have going on with the DD Omega rail. I find that I like having the stubby VFG, as opposed to nothing, as the VFG, at least to me, helps me a lot in being able to manipulate the light.

I would look into getting a (Magpul) MOE handguard with the IWC QD installed then you just need a section of short rail for the light mount and a MOE MVG (VFG) that attaches straight onto the HG.

I have one of those in a set of middy MOE. Works good.

So, is the consensus that one shouldn't run a VFG on a standard HG? It was a bitch to drill through the Cavalry Arms middy HGs I have on my BCM, so they seem pretty damn sturdy. Is the MagPul MOE HG that much stronger than the Cav Arms HG?

I was never happy with it when I tried it years ago.

In what regard were you not ok with it?

It rocked around pretty bad. This was on a standard M4 HG with an add on rail.

As far a the MOE handguards, with the two that I have, yes they do lock up tighter than regular handguards.

Do you have any "play" in yours now or are they tight between the delta and the cap?

There's slight rotation, but I can see that possibly getting worse with use.
