Hey Doc, was just wondering about these Mile Dragic plates that have been showing up on ebay:

From the weight and thickness, I am fairly sure they are Dyneema/Spectra. Do you have any data on them? Thanks!

We have not tested these plates.

The weight is certainly consistent with a compressed PE material, however I suspect the cost of Dyneema for 2 plates is higher that what this armor is selling for. Thus they might be different material, maybe stolen, defective, or perhaps the Serb equivalent of DRMO...

Doc, thought the same thing re: density. There was some question as to whether they could be compressed aramid, but so far I am only aware of a single instance of 100% compressed woven aramid used as rifle armor. Trying to find the link now, it seems to have been lost in the interwebs woods.

Anecdotally, the scuttlebutt is that when NATO pulled out, these plates were left abandoned in a warehouse, so the DRMO is the closest similarity. This page allegedly has testing of the plates:

Am going to try to acquire a set for testing. If I am able, I would like to send one to you for testing as well, for the expansion of our knowledge base here.
