check this out....

a 125 grain Barnes Tac-XP bullet loaded in a .40.....basically turning a .40 cal into a .357 sig, assuming the velocities are correct

I wouldn't want to put it my gun. The fastest velocity load data for the 40 puts that round as over pressure. The 40 is notoriously a bad caliber for KB's with overpressure rounds.

1. I doubt Barnes made that bullet specifically for DTA. It was in the catalog long before DTA was using it.

2. Higher velocity isn't always better. For the .40 S&W, a simple JHP at 950-1000fps is as good and balanced as it gets. Many smaller companies have a habit of pushing bullets faster than they were designed.

3. The claimed ballistics don't strike me as being unsafe. I push the 135gr Nosler JHP to 1400fps in the .40 S&W from a Glock 23 under SAAMI MAP pressure. That same velocity from a 10gr lighter bullet doesn't alarm me.
