I have two lowers that are almost done minus the Buffer tube and I cannot get the dang detend spring in there for the buffer tube to close. Any ideas. I assemebed two before this but it has been a deployment ago and I have another unassembled one I am going to assemble up soon after my giessle trigger get in but I was trying to get these lowers done and I cannot get the spring to compress enough so I can get the CMMG (old milspec buffer tube with slant {might as well use the dam thing with a MOE stock}) and a spikes milspec buffer tube to be used with my Modstock.

Getting frustrated yesterday so I am glad I had to go to work today to get away from it.

Your post has me confused. Are you talking about the spring for the buffer retaining pin or the actual buffer spring?

The Takedown and Pivot Pin Detent Spring. Cannot keep it from bending while I install the buffer tube.

Did you accidentally switch the takedown pin detent spring and the safety selector detent spring?

back off the castle nut so it's all the way to the rear before installing the buffer tube, and put the receiver end plate on the buffer tube, all the way to the rear as well. don't install the detent spring yet. screw on the buffer tube until it captures the buffer spring detent. install the takedown pin detent spring (you'll curve it slightly to get it past the receiver end plate, or just rotate the buffer tube a hair tighter so you can slide the spring in), and retain it with the receiver end plate. slide the end plate all the way forward, compressing the spring carefully, then follow it with the castle nut. tighten and stake.

MM, pretty much nailed it.

It's also a good thing to clearly articulate what is happening as well as the nomenclature of the parts. By doing so it helps us to help you.

Well found the problem,

I had TWO detents in there not one :jester: . I guess I put one in there and went to bed so I would not lose the detent and then saw another in the bag and put it in there as well.

I put the Colt 4 position stock on it with a EMOD Stock just because it is the same as where I would use a CTR or MOE stock with one position out. I feel better with the Colt 4 position than the CMMG old school 6 position with that slant (I hate that stock but it says use me all the dam time) especially when I started looking where the holes were compared to my DD 6 position that is going on another lower just waiting on the Geislle S2S trigger to get here for that one.

A little fitting putting a Colt buffer tube with a 6920 upper. Threw in an extra H2 buffer and spring in there from an old LWRCi upper I sold to get my new M6A1.

MM and Iraqgunz thank you for the help. I knew I remembered how to do it just did not know why it was not working. I will make sure I post better for the forum. I should have done that in the first place but I was posting on a 10 min break I that use to get away from office politics. Less whiskey in the coffee at work I think (Just kidding) :thank_you2:.
