Been debating with myself for a while about whether an Magpul AFG, standard vertical grip or no grip at all would serve me best in conjuntion with a Surefire G2 mounted on my 9" railed forend. Obviously a VFG works fine in that regards but I've determined that in general I don't like the VFG so much. So I'm looking to see if any of you have run into any problems running a G2 style Surefire in conjunction with the AFG. Is it awkward or complicated feeling ? Sorry if this has been discused before.

If you don't like the AFG you can always go back to a vertical grip and mount your G2 at the 3 o'clock position for thumb activation.

I tried the AFG and can't find a comfortable spot for the tape switch, if I put the switch at the 12 o'clock I have to chicken wing my left arm and it just doesn't feel right. I find putting the tapeswitch BETWEEN the rails at the 10:30 position to be more ergonomic. But I'm gonna try to give the AFG time to grow on me since they are all the rage.

I no longer use AFGs, but when I did, these were the setups I used. I had no issues activating a push button tail cap with the AFGs.

I played with a middy with the AFG and really liked it, especially compared to a standard VFG. I guess I'll just pick one up, monkey with it, give it time and if I can't make it happen I'll go from there.

This just answered my question, I"m building a light weight rifle and the AFG weighs less than the TD Stubby QD but I was wondering how it would play out with the SureFire scout light. Seems it'll do pretty good!
