I'm thinking about trading in my usp compact .40 for either a p2000sk 9 (if I can find one) or a OD glock 17 gen3. This is a tough decision to make.

All good options

I've been very pleased with my 9mm P2000 SK. It's proven to be a real tack driver and totally reliable.

It's got about 1,500 rds. of assorted fmj and jhp ammo through it with zero malfunctions so far.

I'm very fond of the little spud.

Why the apparent disconnect in the two options? What led you to those two particular pistols as what you are considering?

1. My wife shoots the 40 and asked if I could get something with a little less recoil. Why she says that, I have no clue. I can shoot a fly off a cows ass with it. 2. The cost of 9mm ammo is less than .40 s&w. I have an m&p 45 midsize and kimber ultra carry II that will WILL NOT TOUCH because, she's scared of the recoil a 45acp has.

Well I guess I was getting at the fact that one of them is a hammer fired, possibly DA/SA depending on what variant you get subcompact and the other is a striker fired full size gun.

Based on those remarks, I'd say the G17 will probably be a more useful weapon for you.

Out of those two...

If your state allows for magazines more than 10 rounds, go for the Glock 17 OD or maybe a OD 19 if you can find one,
that and a light on the rail is hard to beat.

IMHO For hi capacity mag states 3rd Gen Glock 17 or 19's are a must have.

If no Hi Cap Mags then you cannot beat a Hk P2000Sk in 9mm for a 10 shot pistol without neutered mags.

I prefer hammer fired. The only reason I bought the m&p is because , my local toy store had a sale. I'm trying to do the right thing and think of my wife for change.

maybe she will like the extra safety of the hammer DA/SA with the P2000sk

Well, finally the usp is just about ready to go to its new home. I'll be welcoming a p2000 .40 in a short time.

P2000 is an EXCELLENT option. I have a 9mm with 15k rounds. Shoots just as good as new.

Congrats!

And as a bonus you can use the same holster/mags.

I don't understand how this is much different than the USP Compact in .40S&W?

I have both the USP Compact .40S&W V1, and a P2000SK was V2 (now V1 light) in .40 S&W and they are both excellent firearms. I would recommend the P2000SK in 9mm for your Lady.
