While not really "tactical", it is "support gear" so this section seemed appropriate.

A couple of weeks ago I picked up a new laptop bag from US Grunt Gear (www.usgruntgear.com), and thought I'd share some pictures of the pair of bags that I now have from them. I'm very happy with both of the bags, and have had the smaller bag for over a year now and it's functioned for exactly what I wanted it for: a small check-in bag at hotels that I can also take on planes etc.

The two bags, smaller netbook bag on the left, larger bag for 15.4" laptop on the right. The larger bag is a new color for USGG that I like a lot and that Robert suggested to me when I went down to meet with him about the bag. I think it turned out great and the color is more "safari" than tactical.

The back of the two bags. The smaller bag has a break-open pouch on this side and I usually carry it to the outside. More on that in a second. The larger bag has a weaving of 550 cord that you can use to secure a light jacket to the back of the bag.

The interior of the smaller bag. The padded slot with the buckle at the bottom is for the netbook, the other side has smaller pouches that hold a mouse, charging cords, etc.

The interior of the larger bag is similar but the laptop portion is retained by a velcro strap instead of the buckle.

The interior of the larger bag also has a hidden compartment that is held closed with velcro.

The break-open pouch on the smaller bag. The belt hidden within is designed to accept my carry gun, in it's holster, along with a spare magazine.

The larger bag also has a pistol compartment that utilizes a velcro sleeve that can be adjusted for size and location within the pouch.

The other exterior pouch on the larger bag has various slots and elastic to hold a variety of items.

Robert @ USGG built me a custom laptop sleeve last year. I couldn't find a simple low profile laptop cover without zippers so I sent a drawing with measurements.

It has a single velcro closure with sewn-in padding all around.

It's more of a slip cover designed to slide the laptop into a larger pack and Robert did a great job with it. You cannot beat it for the price.

I have been looking for a bag that had less of the "business" look for my laptop. I hate these heavy ugly leather ones they give us. May have to look into these. I'm really liking that larger one, could you get some measurements rob?

I will try to do that. I meant to do it earlier.

I might also opt for non-molle if given the choice today. At least on the front. But the different color and the wide back-straps behind the 1" makes it look a little less "tactical" to me.

Great, thank you sir.

Non-molle would be nice for those fronts pockets for sure. Other then that(upon just seeing pics)I don't think I would change anything else.

I like the one on the left, and can envision a several uses for it.

Just what I need...another bag. :D

Thanks for posting this, Rob. My old gear bag is in dire need of replacement. I was considering having one made for me by The Wilderness, but I like the set up on these. I can't believe I missed these on the USGG website.

It's funny you posted this, Rob. I received my Defender messenger bag earlier this month, after waiting about 9 weeks.

I went with the standard configuration in Coyote Brown. the only change i requested was that the inside layout of the two outside pouches be swapped, due to being Left handed. I wanted the pistol to be at the front if wearing the bag on the left side of the body.

so far the impressions are great. i use it everyday for work. work as a PM for a large general contractor, and regularly visit job sites. the bag keeps my documents secure, including my 13" Macbook Pro. I can carry business cards, my camera, Itouch, Blackberry, cables for phone/computer/camera, pens, flash drives, AR-15 magazines, etc.

I carry my glock 23 with an extra magazine and nobody even second guesses the bag.

It has enough room for everything I could need for day to day office/jobsite/personal stuff. The zippered section for paperwork is great.

Overal I'm incredibly happy with it. I'd definately buy another one, and wouldn't mind waiting another 9 weeks. Robert was very helpful answering questions prior to ordering.

A Big thumbs up to USGG!

Tom

EDIT:

Here are a few pictures showing the exterior dimensions of the bag, along with how i have my setup for daily use. Remember that the bag utilizes 1/2" closed cell foam for padding.

I apologize for the quality. my Iphone was the only thing around.

Did you specify the outer pouch arrangement, for the mini bag? The bag shown on the USGG page is one large pouch.

Yes, I specified.

Thanks for the prompt reply. Was their an added premium for such a request, or are they all made-to-order ?

Additionally, did you ever get measurements on the small bag? I have a Countycomm bail out bag that is just a hair too small, looking for something larger.
