Who wants to bet that the current LE6920s are about to go up in value? If you know, chime in...

The "LE" marked 6920 and 6940 have been discontinued by Colt. The SP variant will take its place. That being said, the last of ANYTHING always sees a price increase. Nothing nefarious here, just move along...

HAHA, I saw it today and thought, man people are going to freak...

The are removing the super secret LEO use only rollmarks, as well as the LE designation, now they are going to be called "Sporters"

All I want to know is: are they the same exact gun as the LE 6920?

I have an LE 6920 right now and my rate of use it ain't gonna last forever.

The point is the removal of the LE designation, I understand the SP models have been out for a while now, marked M4 Carbine

The SP6920 is the same as the LE6920. Just checked and prices on the 6920's are still the same as last time I checked.

So what's the point of all this then?

My point is I believe the OP is incorrect. No need for anyone to rush out and pick a couple up in hopes of making a buck on a resale. The merchants probably just want to unload the stock they've had for a while. A price increase would not help this.

The LE use only markings are the only reason I've never bought a 6920.

I always thought it was silly...why have them if not factual??

I was thinking the same thing. Being that the AR market encompasses more than the membership of this m4carbine.net, I think some vendors will try to create a sense of "collectability" with the LE models.

I bet there are tons of people that would pay an extra $100 or so for the markings whether they admit it or not.

People unfamiliar with AR's have commented numerous time on the marking when they see my rifle.

I paid $1050 for an LE 6920 in February. Makes me wish I bought 2 just in case.....

But...the SP's say "M4" on them so who knows:rolleyes:

And..........there are even more tons of people that are happy that Colt has finally taken that "Politically correct carving" off of the side.

...but I would bet not even close to the same numbers, hence my reference to the types on this forum and the market in general. If a guy had a 10 LE's and 10 SP's for sale (lets say same price) at your average gun show, and the markings were pointed out, I'd bet you a brand new LE6920 that he'd sell out of LE's well before the SP's:smile: He could probably add $100 to the LE's before they sold equally.

+1 only recently purchased the SP version as to not have the lame LE only rollmark. To each their own.

I meant what's the point of Colt doing this, not what's the point of your post. :D

It's a 6920. Not buying one because it has LE markings is kind of silly. The gun shoots the same either way.

Correct on 6920 is a 6920 is a 6920. My prob with the LE rollmarked model was I believe Colt used the LE Only rollmark for Political reasons. I had a personal problem with them marketing that rifle "outside" of the civilian marketplace and didn't purchase one because of that (silly or not).

Colt has been known to PC their rifles in the past (example; 6601 H-bar with shaved bayonet lug & capacity limited magazines well in advance of any AWB).

The LE version worth more in the future??? Who knows, maybe. Only time will tell. I don't purchase firearms for possible resale so the SP works for me.

I remember before the ban ended when you had to send a letter on letterhead to authorized Colt dealers to get a 6920.

I don't plan on selling mine and I've had it a bit. Really pretty irrelevant, but it'd be nice just to see non LE marked AR-15A2 6520s if you wanted something like an SPII or the beginnings of a CAR-15 clone.

Somewhat off kilter but just for fun it'd be nice if the Colt 901 came as an LE901 with the "scary" markings just so I could get one to match my 6920. But then I chuckle softly to myself and remember that they are rifles and not a suit meant to match.

Exactly. I'm starting to think some people may think its cool to hate on the markings because some people, including the average "Joe", may think they are cool.

I refused to buy a Colt product until recently because of some issues; roll marks not being one of them.

When they went to standard pin sizes everywhere I bought an AR. I don't play the "proprietary" game which is why I also don't buy Apple products. When I can go into a store and buy a standard motherboard from several manufacturers for and Apple then maybe. It was the same with Colt.

Going 100% to 80 series pistols was another dopey move. I still won't buy a 1911 from them until they offer a 70 series version of every pistol....but that is another topic.

110% agreed. What is written on the side of a 6920 lower has zero effect on how it performs or the legal ability to own one.

I predict that this thread will be declared silly and locked because it serves no purpose.
