S&W M&P 9mm w/ Burwell “Chopper” mod, C-T laser, Apex trigger, 10-8 sights, texture pkg
Purchased, owned & maintained since new by an M&P armorer. I’m a full-time gunsmith & this has been my EDC pistol for about the last five years.
This pistol has received Dan Burwell’s “Chopper” mod which cuts the butt of a full size M&P down to a size that approximately replicates the grip height of a G-19 or an M&P 45 Compact. Dan Burwell & David Bowie are the only guys to my knowledge that have done this mod, & neither one seems eager to do too many more! Modified mag capacity is 14 rounds. Comes with a second spare mag cut down by Burwell (spare modified mag = NOT CHEAP!). Fits a standard holster & can use standard mags, of course. I normally carried it with a 14 round mag on board and standard 17 rounders as reloads. Additionally, I had Burwell cut down a Crimson Trace laser grip to fit and finished the pistol off with his full Sharkskin texture package.
Furthermore, it has a conservative carry trigger job w/ the Apex Duty trigger kit
10-8 plain black rear sight & 10-8 brass bead front sight.
No mag safety, no thumb safety & no ILS.
Updated striker assembly installed.
Carried a lot & not shot enough - Round count is approx. 1500 rounds – has never malfunctioned in any way. The original factory finish was looking very tired, so I had the slide & barrel redone in Cerakote graphite black awhile back. There is a wear spot on the left forward slide flat where the stainless steel is showing thru (see photos). I haven’t added it all up, but it would cost well over a grand to replicate this pistol new.
