I just got a Chinese Type 56 SKS Carbine. Markings are the following on he left side of the receiver.

"Factory 26 Stamp
Chinese Characters
12 million serial number"

followed by importer stampings.

"China
7.62
N.A. Cc.
xxxxxxield, NJ."

I believe that the NA. Cc. means Navy Arms Cowboy Companion and the last markings were miss stamped of Ridgefield, NJ.

The SKS is a twenty inch model with spike bayonet and it has a small side scope mount on the left rear of the receiver. I am aware that Navy Arms sold SKS Carbines with side scopes. Came in the standard orange wooded stock and a whole lot of cosmoline still on the rifle.

I have some detailed first hand knowledge of what Navy Arms imported in the great old days. in They brought in and packed a multitude of variants, yours is one of those. Their first imports were well used military guns that commanded a premium. They also whacked an 10's of thousands for other importers, esp. on the East Coast.
