That's a Model 19. They had "dash" after the model 19 to show which generation it would be, such as "19-4".
They are great guns. As for the value, your best bet would be to find out which dash it is ( should be stamped on the frame where the crane rests. Open the cylinder and look at the frame.) then look it up on one of the sale sites, such as gunbroker.
The value of these guns have gone up recently as they do not make the K frame 357 model 19 and model 66 any more.

Were tryin to figure that out now, Ive bought a couple guns from him. He gives me good deals and I help him out with stuff.
Gun broker had 3 listed from $400 to $700. If the price is right ill get it. If its too much I might pass

I was guessing around the $500 to $600 range myself.
I'm a sucker for old S&W revolvers, so don't take my advice on wether to buy or not.

He wants to get $500. It might not be in the cards for me at the moment. If anyone interested PM me.
He has PayPal
I have a 2.5" pinned and recessed Model 19. You should talk him down from $500. It's a great revolver.
If your 19 has never been fired, it could bring as much as $750. Lightly fired, between 600-700, depends on how badly someone wants it. Smiths, especially a good blued one, command a high price.

That's an awesome piece that will still lay down the hurt.
I am partial to the fixed sight, 3" Magnum K frames like my 65-5:

Agreed - inclusion of the box, papers, tools and original grips command the higher prices as well. The 'pachys' are a bit of a detractor - check out the going prices for original Smith grips! Yikes.
Good luck..........................
So my buddy just called me not 20 min ago...asking if I came and got it, it was stolen out of his truck. Yesterday when we were driving, I put it in the glove box(in its case).
I told him to immediatly file a police report, im gonna start calling pawn shops, he has to find the serial number.
Ridiculous this is being posted after reading the thread "Car Carry" and hearing about other guys guns being stolen. Thieves make me ****ing SICK
