So we've all seen all the fanboys on this and other sites. Now there's science to back it up. OK, admit I'm a P7 fanboy.

Good stuff.

I took a course in Social Psychology in graduate school which spent a considerable period of time studying how people make choices and, subsequently, interpret and justify those choices. Also, how those processes differ when examined individually and in the group context.

Needless to say, our decisions and opinions are frequently influenced by factors totally outside of our conscious thought process. And the effects of those outside influences are often strikingly counterintuitive.

Interesting article. I guess that's why my LWRC and Oly Arms are the best AR15s ever. :)

Very well put sir.

On a related note, I ran across this the other day.

Some say this is tin foil hat territory but upon viewing the history of governments (including our own), corporations, and advertisement firms’ the use of psychological manipulation is a standard operating procedure.

Some fan boy’s have been created of sorts.

Looks like an interesting movie. I'll have to look for it the next time I'm at the rental shop.

I remember seeing a report on those film frames spliced into movies at the theaters with the "eat popcorn" or "aren't you thirsty" messages. We are being helplessly naive if we don't think merchants would spend millions in efforts to surreptitiously influence consumers to spend their billions.

And if it works for Madison Avenue, no reason it can't work for Pennsylvania Avenue, right? Forget the Manchurian candidate, we're at risk of becoming Manchurian citizens.
