By White Sound Defense: http://www.whitesounddefense.com/products/Mag-Chalk.html

"Up until now the best option was to use powered lubricants such as graphite or molybdenum disulfide (moly) in an effort to get effective lubrication in magazines. However graphite, while a decent lubricant, encourages galvanic corrosion in steel and aluminum, so to some degree you are trading one problem for another. On the other hand, moly tends to cause acidic corrosion on surfaces it is in contact with. Neither is an ideal solution and neither holds up particularly well in wet environments.

"The solution developed by White Sound Defense is a liquid product that dries to a thick waterproof semi-solid film that 'sheds' as it comes into contact with particles of grit. It is unlike any grease or lubricant used for general firearm lubrication. The product also forms a thinner highly durable lubrication film that bonds to the internals of the magazine itself."

This is a new product, so I don't imagine there are any reviews out there. I am curious what you engineering minds think about the concept. Do you think the "shedding" would be like minute wax shavings? Also how it might work in capacities other than magazines, such as triggers, where there is also a desire for properties like moly or graphite. Perhaps an estimate of how it would compare to other "base" lubes, like Frog or XF-7.

Is that what LaRue uses on his mounts for lubrication on his throw lever device things? That leaves marks on the underside of my upper receiver that has been mistaken many times on the internet as 'rail burnishes'?

I'd love to buy a hole assortment. Tapped holes, round holes, slots, maybe some rectangular holes. When you need a hole, no need to go to the machine shop or the garage, just get one out of the box.

Well, I bought some, and I found that it works best if you coat each individual bullet too. Only bad part is, the chalk shoots out the carrier and gets all over your face. That day i got a bloody nose, and it bled all over my lip...needless to say I was surprised!!!

Well a pic is worth 1000 words so....

Has anyone ever seen an AR with a rear view mirror? How do you know if someone is sneaking up behind you? A Picatinny rail mounted tactical rear view mirror would be neat. How about a rate of fire indicator? Something to tell you how fast you are shooting. Maybe three displays, instantaneous rate, one minute average and daily average. There are all kinds of things folks need, they just don't know it.

Or send him on clock winding detail. The uniform is wet weather boots, BDU pants, PT shirt worn inside out, protective mask, and Kevlar.

(there might be one person here who knows where that was :-P)

I would like to see them make a fore grip fitted with an auxiliary trigger hydraulically linked to an actuator on the main trigger so you could fire the gun with either the left hand or the right. You could your use your left finger alternately with your right finger to double your rate of fire!

For that matter you could put little levers in the pistol grip hydraulically linked to the bolt stop and mag release so you could run the gun without changing your grip!

I suggested we take our own photo safari, and somehow we settled on Mugdock Country Park, which was equally difficult to reach by public transport, but more appealing. The forecast was for snow and sleet and all sorts of yuckiness, but the sun was shining and the skies were gloriously blue, so we set out excitedly to Milngavie by bus and started to hike to the park. It all looked a bit daunting on the map, but in reality it was totally manageable and even pleasant. We took a tiny diversion along the way when we spotted a host of huge yellow flowers carpeting the woods along a stream. It was an amazing sight, one neither of us had ever seen! The flowers were like giant yellow plastic lilies or something. I took a million photos, but none truly captured the magic of the scene.
