So im looking for a lightweight and low profile bipod to mount on the rail of my M16A4 clone. Suggestions? My main consideration is weight, but it also of course needs to be sturdy.
thanks guys

I always liked a good old Harris bipod.

Yeah, I went and ordered a LaRue harris 6-9 non-swivel bipod, should fit the bill perfectly!

Might check to see if it's too late or not but the swivel is kinda mandatory for me...

My buddy has this Demon Tactical bipod on his AR and it appears pretty nice. Folds away nicely and out of the way. If lightweight is your main objective:

On a bipod it's kinda difficult to have the best of both world, light and sturdy, can only compromise. I used mil-issued Grip pod-02 model. Served three purpose, used as a VFG, fast deployment sturdy bipod, and can easily be removed tucked at your back pocket.

It's pretty nice and he likes it. If you have a quad rail forearm then it fits and folds away wonderfully. I'll see if I can get a picture of it for you.

One word, Atlas

Atlas bipods are far and away my favorite for precision work, but they're not lighter than Harris' bon-swivel models. Mine weighs in at 12.2 oz with the mount compared to 9.9 oz for a Harris BRM.

There are lots of really lightweight hunting bipods- some (https://snipepod.com/index2.html) are as light as two ounces, but you cannot load them properly (assuming the OP know what bipod loading is).

EDIT- The Demon Tactical bipod may not facilitate "loading". (http://www.gunblog.com/review-demon-tactical-bi-pod/)

Yup, that's why I went with the harris; its a proven design, and very reliable. Its as lightweight as possible while being able to stand up to abuse, and loading.

Atlas or Tango Down

I have both. The Atlas is more versatile, but the Tango Down is more stable on an AR platform.

Here are a few pics/angles of my Demon Tactical Bipod. I read the review from GunBlog (http://www.gunblog.com/review-demon-tactical-bi-pod/) that masakari posted. All-in-all the review was very positive, except for the comment on the Magpul AFG. As you can see that is what I am rollin' with and I have no issues at all with the bipod being in the way.

If you are still interested I'm not sure where you can purchase these now... just did a quick ebay and gunbroker search with 0 results, and even the manufacturer doesn't have it listed on his site either http://www.demontactical.com/ Maybe you could contact them direct and see if they plan on making more. Best of luck.

Looking at the pic I think you will need extra long arms/elbows to shoot the Demon from prone or bench. It appears to set the rifle very high.

FWIW, I've been running an Atlas for well over a year and consider it to be top notch for my purposes. There are a couple of good M4C threads on the Atlas if you care to do a search.
