KAC SR25 with SASS rail

I got to shoot my SR25 quite a bit this summer. Lots of fun and actually not too expensive to shoot compared to my carbines as you tend to shoot slower as you try to shoot a nice, tight group.

And this rifle will certainly do it. Is it as accurate as a well tuned bolt action? In most cases, probably not but this is a sub MOA rifle all day long. And I don't care how fast you can manipulate a bolt, there is no better way to make a quicker follow up shot than with an SR25.

My rifle came with the fiberglass tube which had to go. The great people at Operation Parts hooked me up with the new SASS (URX) rail and I added my favorite BUIS, the KAC 600m. The LT SPR mount shown here didn't work out as I wanted it to so I now use KAC 30mm rings and I reinstalled the shell deflector.

The Magpul PRS and TD bipod round out the package. I just don't have the time to reload anymore but this rifle likes 168gr, usually Federal, better than 175s. It is just a blast to shoot. Two of my buddies picked up SR25s this summer (one preban...bastid:D ) and we have access to a nearly 600 yd range, so we had contests all the time. Too bad they can't shoot.;)

I wish I could get some spare parts for piece of mind. Maybe if KAC hits the civee market in full stride, it will happen. I've accrued a nice little KAC collection with one SR15m4, one SR15m5, this rifle and a killer SR25K. Can't buy anymore Colts, so I had to do something. Unfortunately, I fear that KAC will not make any ban compliant versions of their new carbines when they come out and why should they. There's only a few ban states left. I just happen to live in one.:( I guess I'll have to settle for that killer new BUIS I saw that is part of the SOPMOD II package. At least I'll get a little something.

Great Pics Cohiba, and a great choice. I have a very similar rig. I too went away from the Larue mount as I couldn't get the MOA adjustment that I wanted. The MK11 mount has 30 built in, but I could never find it. I ended up going with the same solution as the Marine Corp, mainly because I figured if it worked for them, it will work for me. My rings have no MOA built into them, but at 1.49 high, they end up with about 15 MOA adjustment naturally.

By the way, do you have any idea of what the K in your serial number denotes? I've been asking around, and no one seems to know. Mine is one of the 23XXX ones. Maybe I'll ask Trey.

As a quick FYI, the LT SPR-S mount has 10MOA of cant built in.

They installed the rail as it requires tools unique to the URX. The rail was $540 and installation was another $60. Awesome rail I must admit. :)

These SASS URX's are left overs from a design change. There are not many availible and once we start producing the new design for the SASS contract comercial availibility will be questionable. We are also incorperating this design into the SR-15 E3 IWS and that rail will not be availible as a sepperate item for some time. If you wan't one of these and you have a dealer that has them I would recomend "jumping" on it.

I would truly love an SR25, if/when they become available, but frankly, I'd have to see some degree of commitment over time, from KAC that parts will be made available and will continue to be available to the civilian consumer.

I was at SHOT 07 and got to meet some of the fine people at KAC. There seemed to be a real eagerness to participate once again in civi sales, to some degree.

I look forward to seeing this with my own eyes when these weapons are once again available.

I heard the spare parts are not available for the older SR-25s. Is that correct?

Bolts are individually headspaced to bbl extensions. Early upper and lowers were match reamed and not interchangible. Right now we don't even have enough parts to sell whole guns much less uppers. Any one with a early SR-25 that needs repair can PM me and I will review your situation and do my best to get your gun running for a reasonable fee. Usually a new bbl and bolt will bring most guns up to speed. I would be happy to view pictures to try to make these determinations, please feel free to PM me on these subjects. One of our problems is bbl supply and with the SASS contract plus Mk-11 refurbs going on they are in short supply. I want everyone to know that we stand behind our products and do not want a bunch of guns out there out of commission .We will do our best to support those customers that already own SR-25 rifles. I have been hearing complaints about SR-25 K's which were unproven at the time of manf.(pre-ban). We have made some recent improvements to this gun that should make these guns more reliable. Few people shot them very much do to the value. There are only 80 of these guns in circulation.

Are the 80 included in this run or is that 80 besides these? This K has a URX (it came with the fiberglass tube) that was supposedly installed at KAC. In any event, it is quite the rifle.

This is from the same series . 100 recievers were built before the ban and finial assembled later. This gun was one of the last to be sold thus the low number(13th). These guns have held their value very well. There have been mixed review as far as reliability most people don't shoot the rifle. Any one owning one of these with issues could pm me for info.

I appreciate the offer. I do not have any issues with my SR-25 s/n 223xx. I had heard that there were bolt problems with some and that changes in the "newer" models correct the problem, but were not backwards compatable to the older 25s. So I would be SOL if it went down.
