What all the different spare parts needed to have on hand in case something like this (http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/showpost.php?p=6842374&postcount=1) happens?

Obviously, from there I learned that you probably need to have some disconnectors and perhaps an entirely different FCG on hand.

To be prepared in a more general sense, do you need to have BCGs and spare bolts too? Maybe some rivets?

Also, how simple is it to fix something like that busted disconnector?

The disconnector is an easy fix, I can change one out in under 10 minutes. I always keep several FCGs on hand, and I highly recommend the Red Star Arms Retainer plate to replace the shepards hook.

Link for "Emergency" FCG replacement. These are imported parts and using these parts in your post ban rifle will screw up your US parts count.

I also like to keep a few disconnector springs and extractors on hand.

a spare extractor and a couple of extractor springs could be a good idea. Ive never heard of an AK breaking a bolt but anything is possible.

Thats a great thing about the AK, parts are readily avaliable and really inexpensive.

Thanks, gentlemen.

As for the post that I linked, does something that usually happen often, or was it one of those random things? It was after all an Arsenal SGL.

I'm still planning on buying one of those. Would it be recommended to switch out all of those OEM FCG parts?

I've never seen a disconnector break but I've seen one hammer wear out...............and I've been around AKs for a long time.

In my opinion, imported FCG parts are superior to the US parts but you still have to be compliant.

Get spare weapons, not spare parts.

Get spare weapons, not spare parts.

I'm just starting out now, but I do know that I would also like a 5,45 AK at some point too.
