I just received a copy of this $19.95 book for review. I know that most of us on this forum like to discuss absolute minutia about barrel steel composition and whether a barrel is parkerized under the FSB, but sometimes it's good to step back and focus on fundamentals. This book helps an AR shooter do that.

This book differs from the M-4 handbook that Blackheart published in 2008 in key ways that benefit the civilian and police shooter.

- an entirely new chapter on body mechanics and position. Shooting on the move, natural point of aim, economy of motion, etc
- no coverage of the PEQ and how to sight one in
- photos are B&W, not color like the previous book. Boo hoo.
- simplification of malfunctions clearance. The previous book dedicated 18 pages, whereas this one has 6. While SPORTS is still explained, this edition explains Pannone's very simple, singular method of clearing moderate to severe malfunctions. You don't need to memorize 5 different methods and whether to classify them (quite unnecessarily) as Type 1, 2, 3, etc. ONE technique deals with them all. In about 10 seconds and you can even do it in the dark.

Chapters:
Rifle specs
Gas system theory
Ballistics
Body mechanics
Loading sequence
BRM- how to get into and maintain shooting position
Malfunctions
Zeroing (they recommend a 200m zero)
Maintenance, cleaning, lubrication
Training tips
Sight adjustments and specs on common optics such as ACOG, Aimpoint, and EOTech XPS

They also just published one for the AK. Erik Lawrence is one of the most knowledgeable guys in the business on the AK platform. I will review that one separately.
