They seem to be changing over from Fireball to the 300 BLK standard.

Hopefully this will fix their chamber issues.

I have been keen on this round for about 12 years now. Not being able to afford the Copyrighted .300 Whisper, I went with the Model 1 Sales upper in .300/221 (.300 BLK not being available a few years ago), but had a lot of issues with bullets getting stuck in the barrel - i.e if I chambered a round, did not fire and tried to unload it, the case would come out without the bullet. This is unpleasant as you have to get a rod to get the bullet out and it leaves powder all over your receiver.

I fixed all this in December with a Noveske barrel and gave the M1S barrel to my gunsmith which he then reamed for .300 BLK and we are both happy.

I also had a stuck bullet in a Fireball chamber. I am pretty sure it was Model-1 Sales barrel, but it could have been an Olympic Arms barrel.

I hope they build this to spec as they will allow folks who cant afford better to at least hunt/play with this round.

As an aside, I cannot thank you folks enough for bringing the .300 BLK to the table! I have loved the idea of the .300 Whisper for years, but Corbon is just too pricey to practice with. Once the ammo flow starts to open up, I will be an even happier fella!

I know its Model 1 sales and all, but I note the whole gun set up for .300BLK is only $545

That may be worth me buying one to test out this next deer season.

That price does not include the stripped lower or assembly.

But if you just want an upper without a bolt carrier, it is even cheaper - $370:

Is the standard 5.56 bolt compatible with .300BLK? Or is it .300BLK specific?

You can use standard 5.56 bolts, carriers, and magazines. That's one of the great features of the .300BLK round.

Thanks--just wanting to be sure. This is very interesting.

No doubt. I've never been a big fan of .223 / 5.56, preferring .30 caliber in its various offerings, both NATO and Soviet-Bloc. What I wanted was a short-barrel AR in 7.62x39, but in reality that caliber simply doesn't work reliably in the standard AR platform.

.300BLK (7.62x35) is exactly what I've been looking for, so I bought a new Colt 6933 with the express purpose of becoming a 10.3" .300BLK carbine.

There are scads of information on the round on the SilencerTalk and SnipersHide forums.
