Here is my modest Emerson Production knife collection. They all have the “Wave” feature which I choose to believe is literally a ‘life saver’. The line-up is as follows left to right:

• P-Sark with combination blade. **Generally my EDC in my left pocket** due to the pocket clip moved to the opposite side by me. Even though I am right handed I like the fact that the Sark accompanies whatever EKI is in my right pocket.
• Commander with combination blade.
• Roadhouse with plain blade.
• CQC-16 with combination blade. This will be my go to knife for hunting season this year.
• CQC-13 with plain blade. Love the Bowie style blade on this and the CQC-16.
• CQC-10 with plain blade.
• CQC-8 with plain blade. **Generally my EDC in my right pocket**
• CQC-7 with combination blade.

For those of you unfamiliar with EKI’s “Wave” feature I suggest you look it up on YouTube as there are countless demonstrations. The videos will convince you this feature is a ‘life saver’ if you have to deploy a blade in a hurry.

I carry these knives daily and they are truly workhorses. Since I live close to the water and work on it 5 days a week the 154CM takes the corrosive abuse with minimum care while holding an edge. The combination blade for me is a must as I encounter numerous derelict trap line and anchor lines that need to be cut in a hurry. The serrations are perfect for this task. Sure a sharp plain edge will cut the line also but in my experience it is tough to compete in speed and blade longevity with the combination serrated edge models.

Now go buy one as you deserve the best production folding knife made.

Oh yeah...

Here's my beloved EDC UBR Commander shown with my little mini commander.

It's amazing how that huge of a knife can just disappear into a front jeans pocket.

And this is another favorite, the CQC 13:

I am definitely a fan of Emerson Knives. I have owned and sold quite a few. My current inventory includes a Comrade folder, CQC-10, M Wave and a "waved" delica.

The wave feature is mandatory on my knives. Brilliant invention

You have a great collection.

I've owned quite a few and sold them all. Cool idea, bad followthrough on EKI's part. The blades were quite brittle. Even had a personal argument over this with Ernie himself (not face to face, he's a scary dude haha) but we've finally made peace after many years and many arguments. Great guy, cool knives, but Ill stick with my Spydies.

I see you only posted folders, but this is my only Emerson, and it's a great knife.

This is a PUK:

No hijack, but I prefer another brand for folders.

Nice collection. A plain Mini CQC-7 with the wave feature is my EDC knife. My next folder will be a Super CQC-8.

I find the 'brittle' defect interesting. Perhaps the heat treatment was a point or two off the mark.

My experience so far has been great. As witnessed by the Sark and the CQC-8 they have worked hard and came back for more cutting, prying and other tasks.

Good choice of not get Mr. Emerson too cranked although he's a true gentlemen.

Let's see your newest Commander!:D

Soon as I get some pictures taken. Probably in the next few days due to work my schedule.

The previous owner of this knife took excellent care of it for sure.:D

Just got a first Emerson 2 weeks ago and I love this thing! CQC-15:

The blade's design is a beautiful blend of a Tanto tip with a little belly and even a little bit of recurve. Very nice blade and the wave feature is sweet. The quality of the materials, mechanism, fit and finish is solid and satisfying and can be felt in the hand. I'd trust this knife and already have a Super Commander on the way if that says anything. Emerson fan.

I like the CQC-15 a lot, probably next on the list. Similar to the Roadhouse but as you mentioned I like the re curve/belly grind. Sort of a cross between the CQC-7 and the Commander.

Good luck on your Emerson addiction as mine has FAILED treatment so far. Of course one must want to be cured.

Excellent work there Capt_Jerry! I am just starting out my Emerson collection. But my favorite by far is the CQC-8 in all it's forums, the Horsemen and the Super. I carry a Horsemen as my EDC, but I just got my Roadhouse and it feels a little better in the hand. I may have to switch. I have on order a Super CQC-8. But I gotta have a Karambit.

>>The wave feature is mandatory on my knives. Brilliant invention.....<<

After carrying a non-wave CQC 7 for over a decade - when I got my Roadhouse - that damned wave thing drove me nuts. It wouldn't open when I wanted it to (on a reliable basis) - and it would open when I didn't. Also - difficult to open reliably from certain positions.

So - off to Emerson to be castrated. Would have preferred they remove more - I probably will in the future. Now - I have what I consider to be the near perfect EDC knife. (It would be perfect if they would have agreed to swap the clip for point down carry - but they say they can't do that for some reason.)

Cheers!

Straight from Ernest himself. He's flat out lying here in an attempt to explain why his knives have such poor quality.

The thing about fit and finish is that, that is all it is, fit and finish. It has nothing to do with the function of the knife or the design of the knife.

Now, I'm going to tell you that Chris Reeves is a dear friend of mine. Sal Glesser is a friend of mine and Columbia River well, I really don't know them personally. Having said that, I will now say that those are the knives that I am most often compared to. All of them have fine fit and finish.

Now, with all due respect, I will also tell you this. None of those knives were present when (all) of the Somali pirates were taken down. None of those knives were present when Al Zarqawi was captured and killed.

None of those knives were present when Khalid Sheikh Mohammed was taken captive. And none of those knives were present when Osama Bin Laden was shot dead. Yet, there were knives that were present at all of those and hundreds more firefights, assaults and covert actions. Anyone care to guess what knives those were?

Just thought I would share.

My first folding Emerson was a CQC-7 bought back in 1999. I still have it although it has since been retired. I'm on my second Commander, the first was a 2000 Model which I gave to a Republic of Georgia Captain. I don't count it as a full Emerson but I got one of the Timberline Specwar models in 1995 IIRC. Yes, I do like me a Emerson or two.
