Okay so I have a 700 chambered in 30-06 I have been shooting for the past couple years, I want a heavier profile barrel.

I found a place that sells blanks or will install if I send it to them.

I just want a better barrel for better accuracy while keeping the 06.
(edit: I want to go with the bull barrel, or varmint? If thats the same, it dont have to be fluted
Anyone bought a barrel and installed themselves? Or should I just send it to them.

Thanks in advance

You have to have a smith do it. The chamber needs to be cut to the correct depth so that it will head space with your current bolt.

Its not plug and play like ARs

Thats what I figured (have a smith) but wasnt sure.

Would it be worth it? I love the 06, I just want it to be good out to furher distance.

Send it to GA Precision. George will do an amazing job on your rifle.

You can have the smith pin the recoil lug and chamber up as many bbpls as you want that will fit the bolt face. All you need is the $$$, an action wrench and bbl vise.

I had a 700 switch bbl & was running the 221 fireball & the 6ppc...that set up required having an extra bolt fitted to the action.

What kind of accuracy are you getting out of the current barrel?

If you are already steadily sub MOA and happy with the current caliber, depending on what glass you have mounted on it, you may be better served putting that money into better optics.
