I was curious to get some opinions of the difference in grip size of the MP 45 compared to the MP9. Are they similar, or is there a noticeable difference in the two. I haven't had the chance to get my hands on a .45 at all, and I've only briefly held the 9. Thanks.

The word that I always heard was that the M&P45 was slightly bigger and that running the small backstrap felt like an M&P9/40 with the medium backstrap.

M4arc is correct. The slide and barrel are also just a little longer. It'll fit in 95% of the holsters for the M&P9. I have a 6005 Safariland that I heated up a little to make the M&P45 fit better but with a little for w/o the heatgun it would still fit. The M&P45 also fits the 560/561s for the Glock 17/22/20/21 just as good as the M&P9 does.

I own an M&P 9, but not an M&P 45.

When I pick up an M&P 45, I notice the difference in feel. It's not a big difference, but the 45 feels a little longer fore-to-aft in the grip. IMO, it's still a very good feeling grip.

I was able to shoot my M&P45 as well as my 9mm (medium backstrap) once I changed the backstrap from a medium to a small.
