The folks at Armored Mobility asked us to test a new product of theirs, an armored citation clipboard.

It is approximately the same height and width as a standard citation book and weighs about 2.7 lbs, with a handle on the back to allow easy grasping of the device. In addition to its other uses, the device makes a handy field expedient impact tool.

In our testing, we fired the following rounds from a distance of three feet:

9 mm M882 ball from G17
9 mm Win 127 gr +P+ from G17
.357 Mag Rem 125 gr JHP from 4” 686
.44 Mag Fed 240 gr JHP from 16” 1894
12 ga Fed 00 buckshot from 18” 870

All of the threats were stopped by the AMI citation holder.

Interesting. Not sure I want to carry around a 3lb ticket book though.

Didn't feel bad when we were trying it; weighs about the same as a steel pistol and can save your life...

True. Would be interesting to start training with it like it's a buckler.

Mine set in the cruiser mostly. Except for checkpoints

Well said--definitely think of it as a modern day buckler (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buckler)!

I carry one of those in my car, and make use of it not only on traffic stops but stuck behind my headrest, between it and the cage.

AMI has sent me an email stating the price will be $95--quite reasonable given how effective it is...
