Hey Guys,

I am a new member and this is my first post. I just picked up this rifle at a local gun show today, and I would appreciate any information you could provide about it. Here's what I know about it. It's an Accuracy International 270 WIN built on a Remington 700 with a bipod on the front and built-in monopod in the stock. According to the seller, it has only had around 20 rounds through it and looks mint!

Any idea as to the current value and the cost to build today?

Also, I would appreciate any recommendations for an optic. I am considering a Nightforce but I am unsure of which type to buy. Thanks in advance for all your help!

Adam

That's no AI. It's a Remington 700 dropped in a choate-plaster stock. I hope you didn't pay an AI price for that.

That's not an AI gun. AI has their own action, it is not a Rem 700. That is not an AI stock either, it's a Choate. If you get a Nightforce, I'd advise you don't get that the Nav-Spec model. Get something with a first focal plane reticle. I would also suggest a reticle that has sub-MIL graduations. It will make range estimation easier than the standard MILdot reticle.

I stand corrected. Yes you are correct it is a choate stock. Any idea of its value? The barrel is much larger in diameter than a stock 700. Im sure it will still be a fine rifle even though its no ai.

I hope you didn't pay more than 500 bucks for that.

And I suggest you do a lot more reading and research if you can't tell the difference between an AI and a 700 - you don't need to be worrying about NF-level glass yet.

Unfortunate experience bro...I hope you can find a way to (safely) get your money back. If those scope mounts are Weaver aluminum mounts I'd have a local gunsmith look it over carefully before shooting just to be sure that this crook didn't cut corners on the barrel install or somewhere else.

Ackerly Improved for AI?
That's what I was thinking. Does it have. 270AI on the barrel? That probably means that it is chambered in the Ackley Improved version of the .270 Winchester which is probably gonna be worthless to you if you do not reload your own ammunition.
