Hey Guys,

I just bought a Remington 700 in 270 WIN and am looking for optic recommendations. I am considering a Vortex 6-24 x 50, but I am concerned that it may be a little too much scope for the gun. It is definitely more than just your stock Remington 700 as you can tell by the pics, but I don't want to over buy when it comes to the optic. Any recommendations on an optic and education about the round itself would be much appreciated.

Bump - I would also like to know what a good optic for target shooting out to 500 yards with a Remmy 700 in either .270/.300/.308...

Thinking of a Vortex Viper in 4x16 50mm to get me started with their rings.

Thumbs up?

what are you going to be using it for?

Given the caliber, I would assume hunting... ?

if so, what type of hunting, ranges, etc..?

budget?

I just want to learn how to shoot at distance with a relatively inexpensive to shoot caliber that can take me past 500 yards.
Punching holes in paper targets and banging steel is all this gun will be used for...

Thanks again for your time...
