This is not my pic. It looks like Sticks work to me. Someone posted this on Facebook and asked if the Pmag 40 was out yet. I never heard of it myself. I figured if anyone would know it would be someone here. Thanks.

It's Listed on Page Number 15 here

http://www.magpul.com/assets/files/2010Catalog/2-PMAG.pdf

And Stick did some Pictures of it here on WE

I can't seem to locate anyone selling them ATM though.

On the backburner is the last I've heard.

Definitely more aesthetically pleasing than the Surefire ones.

And aesthetics means what, to whom? In addition the Surefire one gives you an additional 20 rounds. Let's not start some gay Surefire vs. PMAG war here.

Window = No purchase from me.

Why not just get te Nordic pmag extension and get 48 rounds? Less expensive than the SF and still looks like the oh-so-fashionable pmag, and you can choose window, no window, clear or not.

Not wanting to start a Magpul vs Surefire vs Nordic war.

Not interested. Does nothing for me that the new Surefire 60 won't(except perhaps cost less).
Nothing against Magpul, as I have a crapload of pmags that work well.

Window = No purchase from me.

Would you mind elaborating on your reasoning? Thanks.

That is classic sig material bro. You need to copyright that quick. :sarcastic:

My only concern would be the length. The Surefire 60rd mag doesn't increase the length of the mag all that much. The 40 rd PMAG might increase the length to the point that it might become an issue when shooting from various positions of cover and/or prone.

I also am not trying to sound as if I'm trying to start a Surefire vs. MagPul debate. I'm just saying...

Maybe it's just me but I don't see these type of mags catching on outside the competitive shooting community. As mentioned before I also feel they are too long in length, and to say the SF isn't much longer than a regular 30 mag, that may be true I have no experience with them, but are they proven to be reliable as a 30 round mag? Or are they able to swap springs and followers if they get damaged or something? I have one nordic pmag extension for 3 gun use only and that is and always will be it's only use. I see these types of mags falling into the same category as the beta drum mag or whatever it's called. Just my opinion. I'm thick skinned so feel free to tell me how you feel.

Maybe has something to do with strength. Just like black PMAGs being a sturdier construction than the colored PMAGs. Not sure how much of a difference there is in the colors, but there is a difference, big or small.

Just my guess on the windows.

I call BS.

According to Magpul themselves, there is NO strucrural strength differance in ANY color PMAG.

I am extremely dubious in any comments about a window being less strong as well.

I'm more than willing to listen to someone from magpul or smeone else with some definitive calcuable data to prove me wrong though.

Is there a price announced for the PMag 40? If it is under $30 it may be a good alternative for competitions. It will be interesting to see how it compares in price versus the Surefire.

Last I heard was they will be released in the end of September. They were supposed to be released in the first quarter of the year. They are becoming as elusive as the MS3.
I don't know how practical they will be but I can see them being useful in competition and for training purposes. They should cost somewhere between $20 and $25.

Are they as long as Surefire's 60 round magazine? I can't find the dimensions of the PMAG 40.

I'd pick up a few 40's for sure when they come out

I'll be curious to see if it's a true 40rd magazine, or a 38.

This mag will probably have more appeal to the 3 gun crowd.

My "Magpul guy" did a pre-order on the 40 rounders at SHOT to get a discount. I don't see Magpul scrapping the P40. I will bet it will be a true 40 round mag due to the track record of all the other mags. My guess is that it will be very slightly longer than the Surefire 60.

12 ounce beers and 30 round mags are usually plenty for me, but I want a few 40's! :D I have a few 60 round SF's on the way but the price point on these would let me buy 4:1.

What about for systems like the IAR/M27?

I would be interested in a 60 Pmag in the same profile as the SureFire.

Cool.

A little longer mag would be extremely handy for shooting prone in tall grass.

After the ASC ten round mag I had crapped out after a very small number of rounds, around 500, I am very surprised my 10 round Promag has not had any problems for a few thousand.

I bet people here in CA are looking forward to the 10/40 version of these mags...

Since this one is almost 2 years old, let's stay with the newer thread.
