This is one of the most commonly asked questions for new AK owners. Not bad after the first time you do it, but it takes a little practice.

Anyway.............

Sling "assembled" next to the rifle.

Sling "disassembled" with the buckle end towards the muzzle.

What I mean by the snap part of the sling.

Sling through the rear sling swivel.

Sling through the swivel and then through the keeper and then through the buckle.

I read this thread on TOS a long time ago.

Thanks for recreating it over here though. That's one less reason for anyone to go to TOS.

Just got my Bulgy '74 and I simply cannot get the snap end through the leather keeper. It's not hard through the metal buckle but the leather portion is too tight...

Have you tried going at it from an angle and rotating it in? A pair of decent needle nose pliers will help too.

Yeah, I rolled the sling a little and turned it farther sideways than I thought I could. All done!

How does work for a Krinkov sling? I've been messing with mine but the "Snap Part" of the sling is not wide enough to put the D-ring through.

I just got a Century WASR 10/63 yesterday, and the sling that came with it looks just like the sling in Templar’s photos, except that stretched out, it is almost two inches longer than the gun. Wonderful.

I haven’t done any research on slings yet, cause I thought I’d get one with the gun. One that I could use that is.

EDIT: Actually, the sling worked out just fine. This thread helped me figure out that it would work, and how to make it work. Photos here. (https://www.m4carbine.net/showpost.php?p=751547&postcount=998)
